GRAMMY AWARDS 2010 Red Carpet Arrivals: The Rest of Female Fashion & **POLL**

Just thought I’d post some pics of others on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards.  These awards are always known for ALL KINDS of fashion statements…and this year was NO exception. :-)

Katy Perry

  • Supposedly Katy was going for an Indian theme…there’s ACTUAL metal on her dress.

Beyonce

Fergie

Pink

Taylor Swift

Jennifer Hudson

  • Jennifer definitely has lost a lot of weight!  In her red carpet interview, she said she’s been working REALLY hard to look the way she looks now….

Lady GaGa

  • Umm…what can you say about Lady GaGa?  We won’t expect anything less…ridiculous “art.”  Wow.  And look at those shoes!

GRAMMY AWARDS 2010 Red Carpet Arrivals: Carrie Underwood

I guess Carrie was solo on the red carpet…which probably disappointed a lot of people.  Many were hoping she and her new fiance, Mike Fisher, would walk the red carpet together….

I like the white/silver theme of Carrie’s dress…and the dress falls so nicely on her body (altho it seems like it could’ve been a bit snugger around the hips…after all, we all know she’s not THAT wide ;-) ).  The whole cut-out shape on the top’s a bit odd tho.  It’s not too over the top at all tho, and at least it’s different and unique…

GRAMMY AWARDS 2010 Red Carpet Arrivals: Lea Michele

Lea is at like EVERY EVENT nowadays…she was a presenter at tonight’s Grammy Awards:

  • I always wondered why a lot of times it looks like the women are wearing the wrong shoe size…like Lea’s shoe above (and I’ve seen this happen to Carrie as well)…it’s like it’s too big!  But now I realize…I think it’s because the heel is SO HIGH, her foot probably gets shoved toward to toe…thus pulling away from the back!  Makes sense, right?  ‘Cause I couldn’t believe they were wearing the WRONG SIZED shoe! :-p

I like the top part of the dress more than the fluffy bottom half.  But I do like that she wore a short dress this time around.  Short dress matches The Grammys better than a long gown.  Grammys is more cute & fun rather than long & elegant.  I do like the color as well.

This dress was a last-minute wardrobe change.  Lea explains in her E! red carpet interview…based on the story, I’m glad she went with this dress. ;-) Watch it below:

LOST: THE FINAL SEASON – Premiere 1/30/10 & **SPOILERS**

So I was able to get down to the LOST premiere yesterday at Waikiki’s Sunset on the Beach.

Quite an experience…

We ended up being there for FIVE HOURS total.  We got there around 3 pm, with the red carpet arrivals starting at 5 pm.  Already at 3 pm, the beach was totally packed!

  • I really wanted to see just HOW crowded the beach itself really was…so we ventured out there initially…and umm….YEAH.  CROWDED!  Pretty much wall-to-wall people…as we were walking thru the crowd, I KNOW everyone was looking at us glaring and thinking “UMM…DO NOT sit here and block our view.”  Ha!  Don’t worry…we didn’t.

Oh, and in case you were wondering…all those beach umbrellas DID come down before the show started. ;-)

  • Here’s the view of the red carpet.  Can you see the TEENY little red carpet up in the top left there?  LOOK AT ALL THOSE PEOPLE!  And that’s just one SIDE.  There’s an identical sized group on the right as well (that you can’t see in this pic).  The cast’s limos/cars would drive right down this road and the stars would get out at the red carpet.  My view was actually BEHIND the red carpet, but I was able to see the ENTIRE cast arrive, even if after they got out, they would walk towards the crowd, thus leaving us all with only a view of their backs.  It was still better to be where I was rather than BEHIND all those crowds of people…

  • Because of where I was in relation to the stars, I couldn’t really get great still shots of them.  This was just one of the few still shots I got…Jorge Garcia.  And NOW you can see the size of the crowd on this side…Crazy huh?

  • Just to give you an idea…this pic was taken just before the show was going to start.  Can you believe that crowd?!  Oh, and just to let you know…ALL those people standing right there…STAYED STANDING the entire show.  Those poor people sitting right behind them WEREN’T too happy.  There were a bunch of yellers screaming for them to sit down…but no security people made them move, so…why would they move?!

  • This was the view of the screen & the stage from our seats.  Not bad huh?  The only thing was that because we were at such an angle from the screen, they sound wasn’t the greatest.  But considering how CROWDED it was…I doubt the sound was great from anywhere anyway.  We were really lucky to get those seats.
  • The formal program of the show was basically just the producers/creators introducing each of the cast members, then they showed the premiere of the show.

  • Besides being able to see the entire cast in person…the other highlight of the night?  FREE T-SHIRT!  But you had to work for it!  They passed out a survey that you had to fill out AFTER watching the premiere…then you turned in the survey for the free shirt.  Now the crowd you had to fight to GET the shirt was pretty crazy.  It was me being shoved up against TONS of sticky, sweaty people the entire time.  Had to stay that way otherwise you’d NEVER get to the front of the crowd.  Pretty gross and uncomfortable…but worth it to get the shirt. :-p

Just some random notes:

  • The cutest star was Yunjin Kim.  She was the most friendly and really acknowledged the crowd.  She also looked super cute.  I think she was the only star who actually brought her purse too. :-)
  • Evangeline Lilly was so…TONED.  Her arms are ridiculous.  As soon as she stepped out of the car, everyone was like…WHOA.
  • The guys who looked better in person to me were Terry O’Quinn (Locke) and Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond).

Overall, it was a great experience.  Even tho it’s hard to believe we sat there and waited all that time with all those people…like I said…we’re NEVER going to have ANOTHER show in Hawaii THAT popular like LOST probably ever.  This is the LAST season!  Had to experience it with everyone! :-)   Glad I did!

*Thanks again RT for being my LOST buddy…wouldn’t have been able to go if you didn’t accompany me! ;-)

**OK, now if you DON’T want to know what happens in that first episode, DON’T READ ANY FURTHER

What I will say tho is that I am JUST AS LOST as ever after watching the premiere.  Thank god I can watch it again on Tuesday. :-p  And I will have to.  Just some things I can say about what happens:

  • Juliet DOES DIE.  Altho not immediately.  At least she and Sawyer got to have their last moment together…with Juliet dying in his arms.  Altho like RT said…it was basically for nothing…
  • Does the bomb work?  Umm…THAT’S what we’re not too sure about.  It seems like it DID and it DIDN’T

There were two major storylines going on:

  • 1st:  We see all of them recovering from whatever kind of explosion happened when Juliet made the bomb go off…so obviously it kinda didn’t work because they’re all still on the island.
  • 2nd:  Oceanic flight all over again (almost like the pilot episode again)…we get to see Boone & Charlie again!  And…it DOESN’T CRASH.  It actually LANDS in Los Angeles.  Huh?!
  • LOCKE is the smoke monster?  WHY THE FACE?!  So confused…

Hopefully when I watch the episode AGAIN, it’ll become more clear.  But the way this show is…I doubt it.  Guess that’s why you gotta love LOST. :-)

Pre-Grammy Parties

Carrie Underwood & Mike Fisher

  • Idols are a big part of Clive Davis’ “pride & joy”…so usually one of the idols performs at his party every year.  In previous years, Kelly Clarkson & Daughtry have performed.  This year, Carrie was one of the performers at the party.  Jennifer Hudson also performed.

Cory Monteith & Taylor Swift

  • Talk about a random pairing.  Hopefully this won’t stir up too many rumors…the two of them together would just be…WRONG.

Directors’ Guild Awards: Lea & Matthew

Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison were presenters at the Directors’ Guild Awards tonight.

Just thought I’d post some pictures:

DWTS NEWS: Samantha Harris Leaving

Us Weekly just posted that Samantha Harris will not be returning as co-host of Dancing with the Stars when it starts its new season in March.

The show’s executives had nothing but nice things to say regarding Samantha’s departure:  “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Samantha since she joined the DWTS team in Season 2. She will be much missed, but always part of the DWTS family. We support her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

Wonder why she’s deciding not to return?  That was a GOOD GIG, and that show is SO popular…such good exposure.  Maybe she was feeling stifled already after all these seasons of doing it…plus now that everyone knows who she is, she can move on to “bigger and better things.”

GLEE CASTING: 3 New Roles Revealed

The 3 new roles that Glee will be casting/looking for through their open casting call next month have been revealed:

I think I posted about a couple of them already, but I’ll post again anyway:

  • Eve Harrington-esque rival for Rachel (This is going to be a tough role to fill…I mean, this person is going to have to be able to go head-to-head with Rachel…personality-wise AND singing-wise.  Big shoes to fill.)
  • Gay jock-slash-boyfriend for Kurt (This one’s gonna be a fun role to fill.  Supposedly they’re going to be making Kurt and this guy a very open relationship…they won’t be hiding anything.)
  • R&B-singing teen…A male Mercedes (This is a good one!  Merecedes needs a male counterpart.  I don’t think this guy is necessarily going to be Mercedes’ love interest, but it’ll be nice to have another R&B guy to “even things out.”)

Should be VERY interesting to see just what kind of people audition for the show.  It’s really going to end up being like an American Idol audition, I’m guessing.

VIDEO: Wedding Party Glee Dance

Kevin McHale tweeted a link to this video clip of a wedding party doing a choregraphed dance to Glee’s Don’t Stop Believing.

JUMP TO 6:35 in the video:

It’s really cute, and the group must’ve really had to watch the actual Glee performance, because they copy a lot of the moves that they did!

ENJOY!

Carrie Underwood to sing National Anthem at Super Bowl!

It has been announced that Carrie will be singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl next Sunday!

If you haven’t heard Carrie’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner…it’s AWESOME!

Only thing is the person who usually sings it has to lipsynch to a recorded version of it, because of the level of the crowd noise, so…she may not be singing it LIVE LIVE.  In any case, we all know how great of a singer she really is, and it’s still such a great honor!

Usually all I care about at the Super Bowl is WHO sings the National Anthem and who performs halftime (which this year is The Who).  At least this year I have something to look forward to! ;-)

CAN’T WAIT!

NEW SHOW: Human Target

Just thought I’d write a quick review about a new show I’ve been tuning into:

This show is supposedly based on a comic book with the same name.  I actually really do enjoy it…it had TONS of action, but it’s also quite witty and funny too  Lots of wisea** cracks, etc.  What’s also good about the show…and not sure if it will continue to be like this…but each episode is kind of self-sustaining.  There’s closure in each episode, so if you miss one episode and just skip to the next, it’s not like you really missed anything vital.

  • What kind of attracted me to the show was the fact that it stars Mark Valley.  I liked him when he was on Boston Legal as couple of years ago and most recently he had a recurring role on Fringe.  His character on BL was very quirky and witty, so he fits right into playing Christopher Chance on this show.  He’s pretty good looking and kind of dashing…playing a bodyguard who gets hired to protect various clients who are in danger for one reason or another.  His true identity stays unknown tho…he goes by MANY alias…his current one being Chance.

  • Chance has two guys helping him out as his “backup” – Winston (played by Chi McBride, most recently Pushing Daisies) and Guerrerro (Jackie Earle Haley).  They both add some comic relief in their comments, etc…but are pretty vital in helping Chance complete his “mission.”  They are both kind of the “watchtower,” with Guerrerro having to go out into the field to find clues and evidence.
  • The MUSIC on this show is pretty funny.  TOTALLY feels/sounds like you’re watching a movie.  Maybe that’s the comic book aspect of it.  It’s actually kinda cool, considering this is television.
  • There’s  BUNCH of action sequences…once again a bit more like a movie than a TV show.  Some huge stunts, explosions, fights.  Good stuff. :-)

Anyway, this show is nothing deep or anything.  You can think 24 except less confusing, less violent and more witty.  It’s just a fun show with both comedy and action that you can watch each week without having to worry about if you miss the next episode. ;-)   Worth checking out.

BACHELOR NEWS: ABC To Air Jason & Molly’s Wedding

To follow in the footsteps of the ONE true Bachelor(ette) sucess story, Trista & Ryan, Jason Mesnick & Molly Malaney will be getting married ON TV.  ABC will be airing their wedding on March 8.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “The event will include the bride’s dress fitting, planning for the big day, bachelor and bachelorette parties and the ceremony. Past “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” couples and participants will be on the guest list.”

Are we excited to see this union take place on NATIONAL TELEVISION?!  A great big…EH.  You know how I feel about their whole “situation”…

…but you also know that I most likely WILL be tuning in anyway. :-p

Inmates Dancing to MJ

This is kind of random…but totally worth watching!  To coincide with the Michael Jackson’s This Is It DVD release, a video has been uploaded online of 1200 prison inmates  dancing a choreographed number to a couple of Michael Jackson’s songs.  Travis Payne (who I believe was one of the choreographers on MJ’s tour) and a couple other choreographers spent a couple days at the Cebu Maxiumum Security Prison prison teaching the inmates the dance.

The number was performed and filmed IN the confines of the actual prison, and the warden of the prison agreed to have it filmed at NO COST. WHY in the world they decided on inmates…MAXIMUM SECURITY inmates (including murderers, rapists, drug traffickers) no less…is very “odd,” but…in any case…

Very cool!

THIS JUST IN: Betty goes Bye Bye

IT’S OFFICIAL:  This will be the LAST season of ABC’s Ugly Betty.

ABC and producers have released an official statement regarding the cancellation:

“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”

I guess I’m not surprised.  The show’s low ratings forced ABC to move it to Fridays, where I thought for sure it was a goner.  Then in their last-ditch effort to save the show, it was moved recently to Wednesdays (which probably wouldn’t help it considering shows like Glee are on Wednesdays as well).  Obviously, the ratings just didn’t improve.  Too bad.  I still enjoy this show a lot…after 4 seasons, I’ve really gotten attached to Betty, Daniel, and even Wilhemenia!  Oh well…they had a good run while it lasted!

Now when is it Heroes‘ turn? ;-)

GLEE VIDEO: “Somebody To Love” at Upfronts – LIVE

This is like the ONLY video I’ve seen of the Glee cast actually performing one of their songs (Somebody To Love) live!  I believe this was back before the show started, as part of the promotional tour they did around the U.S.

They sounds quite awesome actually…which makes it hard to tell if the singing’s live…not to mention the quality’s not the greatest, but…the part that sounds the most “LIVE’ to me is when Amber does her belting line at the end.  That part sounds like she’s singing it right there…and awesomely btw!

I can’t believe they would be lipsynching if they’re performing in front of a live audience like that…
