24 1/17/10 & 1/18/10: 8.01 – 8.04 “4:00 pm – 8:00 pm”

OK, there were FOUR full episodes of 24 over a 2-night premiere!  That was A LOT of Jack Bauer!  Ha!  I will just make some comments over the 4 episodes:

  • Hey!  It’s the Millionaire host from Slumdog Millionaire!  Nice to see him as a good guy this time around…I hope it stays that way!
  • Ooo…his brother!  Ugh!  What a guy…trying to kill his OWN BROTHER!  Geez!

  • Another familiar face!  Jennifer Westfeldt (her boyfriend in real life is Jon Hamm, from Mad Men)!
  • OK…her character is a bit iffy.  I mean, she obviously was framed for having the information on her computer…but wasn’t she on the phone earlier talking to someone saying that she’ll “get the job done” regarding Omar?!  So she must be hiding some OTHER things that we don’t know about yet right?

  • Katee Sackoff…from Battlestar Galactica, right?  I think she was supposed to be one of the “hot girls” from that show, but I honestly don’t think she’s that attractive…other than the fact that she’s pretty tall and kinda toned.
  • What’s up with that ex-boyfriend/convict guy?  What secret is she hiding…to the point where she totally changed her identity?

  • Brian Hastings…Director of CTU:  NY.  NOT liking him much right now…he was actually REALLY annoying me how he wasn’t listening to Chloe!  A bit pompous…thinking he knows everything.  Doesn’t wanna trust Jack/Chloe.  Argh!
  • At LEAST he was able to admit to Chloe that he was wrong…hopefully he starts to show some more likable qualities…
  • BTW, this new CTU office!  NICE!  It’s SO MODERN looking compared to the old one.  Altho I know this isn’t the SAME office…the environment just feels different with the fancy look.

  • Freddie Prinze, Jr…boy has it been a WHILE since we’ve seen him in anything!  He kinda still looks the same to me.
  • He matches the whole New York feel this season…but right now I’m not getting enough “tough guy” from him.
  • Cole and Dana…Umm…not really feeling their relationship/chemistry right now.  Hard to even tell they’re a couple really…

  • Renee is back…with a vengeance!  Man, when she cut off that guy’s finger!  EWW!
  • Renee is looking better this season…prettier!  Is it her hair?  Maybe ’cause she has a bit more attitude?
  • Jack and Renee…just get together already!  It’s so obvious…

  • I’m liking Chloe’s look A LOT this season!  Her hairdo is so much cuter…she looks prettier…and did she lose weight?
  • Kinda hard to see Chloe as NOT the go-to gal as far as analysts go…but just within these first 4 e;pisodes, she’s already shown her talent and kinda “moved up” the ranks a bit…at least with Hastings, anyway.  Must be quite frustrating for Chloe…after all, WE ALL know how AWESOME she is.
  • She’s still got her wit/sarcasm tho…which is always fun.

  • Umm…we left Jack at the end of last season on his DEATHBED.  Hello?  What happened?  Now he’s just cured?!  No explanation?
  • This season’s a bit different because for once…Jack starts off the season really HAPPY!  He has his daughter and now a granddaughter…he would be TOTALLY FINE moving to LA to live a normal life with them…but then as usual, he gets roped into this whole terrorist crisis.
  • I wish I had a picture of her…but Jack’s granddaughter Teri is just…ADORABLE!  That girl they cast is something else.  SO SO CUTE!!!
  • At least least this season Jack actually has a “reason to live.”  He can just finish this job and then have something to go back to…a nice change for him!

GLEE GUEST STAR SCOOP: NPH!

More Glee casting scoop!

According to EW’s Ausiello Files, the word is that How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris will be making an appearance in one of the May sweeps episodes…coincidentally the episode that will be directed by Joss Whedon!  Umm, kinda not a coincidence huh? (Joss directed NPH in his very popular Dr. Horrible online episodes)

Supposedly it’s not a done deal yet because NPH is currently a star on a CBS show, so there’s a bit of a conflict there.  But since both shows are owned by 20th Century Fox, hopefully there won’t be a problem!

Man, the guest starts just keep on coming…!  And I’m sure with their GG win, the list of celebrities who want to be on Glee will just get longer and longer…!

BROTHERS & SISTERS 1/17/10: 4.13 “Run Baby Run”

  • I really like Sarah’s new guy!  It’s ABOUT time she found someone who can really match up to her!  Yes, he’s a bit dorky and all, but…that’s what she needs after all those younger, hot guys…musicians…
  • This guy is stable, self-sufficient, can keep up with the rest of the family!  Perfect!
  • I loved that they threw in that little “wrench” of their disagreement at the PTA meeting!  That was actually pretty funny!  I hope this one lasts!  Altho next episode looks like she’s going to be contacted by Luc!  NO!  Not right when she’s so happy with this new guy!

  • Kitty running for office?!  That’s a nice little twist isn’t it?!  Right when Robert steps DOWN, Kitty’s gonna step UP!
  • It DOES seem a bit SOON considering she’s still recovering from CANCER.  Hello?!  A bit unrealistic…
  • It will be pretty interesting tho…seeing Robert as the advisor to Kitty…
  • Man, the way Saul was acting…especially towards Nora!  I was getting kind of annoyed…
  • Then once we found out the root of it all…Poor Saul!  He’s in a “rut” in his life!  Thank god for Sarah, who snapped him out of it!

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES 1/17/10: 6.13 “How About A Friendly Shrink?”

  • Katherine’s back!  She actually looked really good!
  • It was pretty sad to hear her talking to her shrink…admitting all the wrongs she’s done…and how even tho it’s SUPPOSED to be great that she sees/can recognize what she’s done…that it really ISN’T a good thing, at least for her.  “Cause she feels so bad about it.
  • I do believe she seems to be better now…and really has owned up to what she’s done…

  • OMG…I SO wanted to kick Orson’s a**!  I’m sorry, but he was so GD IRRITATING!  How he was treating Bree…
  • What a little jerk making like he fell off his wheelchair when the physical therapist came over so that she’s report Bree as abusing him…
  • He TOTALLY DESERVED being sprayed on by Bree!
  • It was actually a really touching moment tho when he finally admitted all the pain/humiliation he’s been feeling now that he can’t do things for himself.  That doesn’t EXCUSE the way he’s been acting, imo tho.  But at least now Bree can recognize that, and hopefully now that he got things off his chest, he can recognize what Bree’s been going thru as well.

GABY & SUSAN:

  • The little “sparring” between Gaby & Susan about their kids was pretty funny stuff!  The whole leopard vs. chipmunk vs. giraffe!   Oh, then otter vs. penguin! :-)   LOL!
  • When Gaby took those photos of Juanita & her friends’ math homework…!  Love it!  “Your mom is WEIRD…’  “You have NO IDEA…”  ROFL!
  • Just goes to show you tho…when you go to a private school like that…and they GROUP your kids like that…how do you EXPECT the parents to react?!  Of COURSE they’re going to compete with each other.
  • Gotta give it to Gaby to CRACK THE CODE of the groupings tho…she’s a pretty smart little LEOPARD!  HA!

LYNETTE/TOM:

  • I’m glad they’re seeing a therapist!  Now they can BOTH talk about their feelings about everything with someone impartial!
  • JANE LEEVES!  Great to see her on TV again!  Been a long time since Frasier…she looks good!  Love her accent! ;-)

  • I loved the ending…when all the ladies went to see Katherine.  I thought at first Susan wasn’t going to be there!  It was such a sweet, touching moment!  :-)

Major Glee Spoilers!

Entertainment Weekly was able to get some MAJOR spoilers about the show from creator Ryan Murphy:

  • What I’ve been waiting for! – Rachel & Puck are getting together AGAIN!  According to Ryan, “I was really surprised [viewers responded so favorably to that pairing],” he says. “I thought people would find her to be far too irritating for him. But by the time [we heard that feedback], we had already shot the first 13 [episodes]. But because I read that — in your column, actually, so you get the blame — I was like, ‘I’m going to get them together in some way.’ So we just finished [writing] a special episode where they are together, and they have two numbers together. It’s episode 4, ‘Bad Reputation.’” YES!  CANNOT WAIT!
  • They are REALLY hyping up that Modonna-themed episode!  10 musical numbers!  Seriously?!  That’s huge!
  • Info on 2 of the 3 NEW cast members they are having the open casting call for: “We just announced we’re doing a nationwide search for the season 2 cast, and [a boyfriend for Kurt is] one of the three roles that we’re adding. And we’re going to make them a power couple. We’re not going to do the whole hiding in the shadows thing. We’re going to make them popular, and out and proud and glamorous. Like prom king and king. We’re doing the opposite of what’s been done.” But wait, there’s more: “We’re also casting sort of a Eve Harrington [from All About Eve] to kind of steal Rachel’s thunder a little. So those are two of the three.” How fun!  At least now we know kind of what they’re looking for…those are both TOUGH roles to fill!
  • More on upcoming guest stars – Jennifer Lopez wants to do the show, so I’m going to meet with her. In the past couple of months, a lot of people are coming out saying they love the show and would I meet with them and write something. But I don’t want to stunt-cast too much, because I think the [musical] numbers are already so extravagant. If I do Jennifer, I would want her to be, like, a lunch lady. And [exec producer] Brad Falchuk is obsessed with having Bruce Springsteen on the show, so I’m sure we’ll go after him at some point.” Jennifer Lopez as a lunch lady?!  That would be AWESOME!

Those are actually REALLY TELLING spoilers/scoop!  Awesome!  Talk about adding to the anticipation of the show returning!  COME ON!  Move up that return date!

GOLDEN GLOBES Winners: My Thoughts

Just thought I’d post a few thoughts about some of the winners (and losers) from tonight’s award show:

BEST TV COMEDY/MUSICAL – GLEE: I don’t think I need to write anything about this one.  YAY GLEE!  SOOO HAPPY FOR THEM!  They totally deserve it.  I do wish Modern Family could’ve won too!  Unfortunately both shows had to be in the same category…MF REALLY is an AWESOME show as well!

BEST PICTUREAVATAR: Umm…are we surprised?!  NOT AT ALL.  Like the movie’s not making enough money already…with this win it’ll just get EVEN MORE!  I’m OK with this win tho…it was a great movie.

BEST ACTRESS, COMEDY – MERYL STREEP: Considering she was nominated TWICE in this category…I mean, she was up against HERSELF!  HELL-O!  How could she NOT win?!  I do think her winning for Julie & Julia is SO much more deserving tho.  That role was tough because she was playing a REAL PERSON.  Her role in It’s Complicated really wasn’t very difficult, I would think.  Oh, and her acceptance speech was quite awesome…she’s so humble and classy.

BEST ACTRESS, DRAMA – SANDRA BULLOCK: I’m really happy for Sandra!  After all these years of doing your typical romantic comedies, she finally gets recognition for a role that really seems to mean a lot to her.  If you haven’t seen The Blind Side yet, you really need to.  Sandra MAKES that movie.  She was awesome.  Sandra’s speech was very touching, especially when she mentions her husband/family.  So cute.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS, DRAMA – MO’NIQUE: SO happy for Mo’Nique!  That role she plays in Precious was something else.  She was SCARY.  And that’s an understatement.  As I wrote in my review of the movie, it’s one of the HEAVIEST movies I’ve seen in a while, but it’s worth it for the ACTING.  Awesome performances.  Obviously the Foreign Press agrees.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS, TV COMEDY – CHLOE SEVIGNY: How could Jane Lynch NOT win?!  She is SO awesome as Sue Sylvester on Glee!  That’s the one thing about these supporting TV categories for the GG…they lump ALL supporting roles into ONE category, whether it’s drama or comedy.  Jane was the ONLY comedic actress nominated.  Hard to beat the dramatic roles…

LEAD ACTRESS, TV COMEDY – TONI COLETTE: Once again…how could Lea Michele NOT win?!  Nah, this particular category was a tough one.  Lea was up against ALL these veteran actresses, including Tina Fey, Edie Falco.  Lea’s this young rookie in a totally new show.  The fact that she was even nominated was awesome enough.  Plus, Toni Colette plays like a BILLION different roles on her show, The United States of Tara.  That’s tough to beat.

LEAD ACTRESS, TV DRAMA – JULIANNA MARGULIES: Wow!  Another winner from a super new show!  Her first major TV series since ER…guess she waited for the right one  huh?!  I’m happy she won!  Hopefully that will give her show even more exposure…as I’ve posted before, watch The Good Wife! it’s a good show!
