BROTHERS & SISTERS 2/21/10: 4.15 “A Valued Family”

  • Luc is back!  I guess we should’ve known that he wasn’t out of the picture yet!
  • Even tho I liked Roy, he was just a stable safe guy…definitely no passion there between him and Sarah.  Glad that they were both on the same page as far as breaking up tho.
  • I wonder…will this thing last with Luc?
  • Poor Rebecca!  Wonder how far along she was when it happened?
  • Justin better be careful…I know he’s just trying to help, but he’s already starting to “push” Rebecca a little bit.  He needs to give her some space to work thru all the emotions of this ordeal…
  • I do wonder how Justin REALLY felt when he found out.  I mean, we all know that he really DIDN’T want the baby initially.  But it was nice to see him break down and cry about it…
  • OMG!  Alec came back!  Wasn’t expecting that.  Didn’t even realize who they were talking about when Kevin mentioned his name.  Not liking that long hair of his…
  • That was actually really nice of Alec to go to Robert after he got that anonymous call about his relationship with Kitty…
  • Of COURSE it was Buffy…don’t blame her for trying to investigate this bit of “baggage” in Kitty’s background history…that IS her job after all.
  • I’m assuming by bringing Alec in for this one episode, this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of him?  I do still remember the rumors that bringing Alec back might be the show’s way of easing Robert out of the storyline as well…we shall see I guess.
  • Good job Holly!  She DIDN’T sell her shares to that guy!  Altho if Nora didn’t make that touching speech about Holly being family now…Holly definitely would’ve gone thru with it.
  • Gettiing interesting…when Holly told Nora about Dennis York and how he knows things about the company…Nora DEFINITELY recognized his name!  Ooo…I wanna know who this guy is!

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES 2/21/10: 6.15 “Lovely”

  • I do think it’s nice to have Katherine back living on Wisteria Lane.
  • Umm…Katherine & Robin?!  Seriously?  They’re gonna go there?!  Oh boy…I guess they need a storyline for Katherine.  Plus…she’s already gone crazy over a guy…might as well move on to the ladies.  Ha!
  • I’m actually surprised that Robin is a lesbian…but in a way, it’s not surprising that she is, considering her experiences with men.

  • It was quite entertaining (and a bit pathetic) to see ALL the husbands just DROOLING over Robin like that…pretty funny to see how they would just blatantly flirt with her and everything. :-)

  • Just have to say that Bree’s ATTEMPT at a lap dance was…hilarious!  Cracked me up! :-)
  • Can’t believe Parker would actually proposition Robin like that!  Parker’s supposed to be the “good one”!
  • So is Ana out of the story now?  Danny too?  Since they both went to NY?

  • I do like it when the show revolves an episode around one character, and how they affect the lives of the other housewives…
  • It was very sweet when Robin told Mrs. McCluskey at the end how she feels at home on Wisteria Lane because she feels that everyone there actually SEES HER.
  • Robin really seems to be a nice, good person.  Unfortunately for her, having been a former stripper…she’s NEVER be able to live that one down.  It’ll always be the topic of conversation for people, make people judge her differently…
  • Seems like Robin’s got a good run on this show…and I did read that they extended Julie Benz’s contract, so I think she’ll be on for at least a few more episodes.  Now we have to see if Robin has a SECRET she’s hiding…besides being gay.  After all, EVERYONE new on Wisteria Lane has a secret.  EVERYONE.

THE AMAZING RACE 2/21/10: 16.02 – Jody & Shannon

  • Aww man!  The grandma/granddaughter out!  I’m SO SAD! You know that I was rooting for them…
  • It was SO SWEET to hear Jody talk about her relationship with Shannon…you could tell she’s just so proud of her granddaughter! :-)   AWW!
  • It was hard for them to make up all the time…they were constantly in last place.  But it was cute how they really just did their thing, didn’t play dirty, didn’t argue…they were just enjoying the experience!
  • I’m starting to like the cowboys a bit more now.  Yes, they’re pretty naive and come across really “YELLOW,” but…they’ve actually been playing the game pretty well.
  • Umm…Jordan…HOW do you spell Jose again?!  H-O-S-E was it?!  GIVE ME A BREAK…
  • What the heck kind of headband was Caite wearing?!  I think she wore that last week too?  It looks RIDICULOUS!  She wonders why people (ahem…the lesbians) make fun of her?  She wants people to take her seriously?!  Not with that thing on her head…
  • DETOUR:  Like most of the teams, I totally would’ve picked the llama task as well.  Man…Joe really got creamed by that llama…first he got spit on the face, then kicked in the leg!  How in the world did the cowboys have their llama eating out of the palm of their hand (LITERALLY)?!  That was pretty cool.  The condor task was pretty lame…I thought they would have to keep jumping off the dock until they hit the buoy.  I guess not.
  • ROADBLOCK:  Oh man…those cows were brutal!  Especially when that one kicked Grandma Jody!  That was a killer!  Even Monique got blasted pretty good too!
  • The fact that Joe/Heidi and Carol/Brandy are allied…umm…didn’t like when Joe let the lesbians cut in front of everyone to buy those bus tix.  That was pretty bad.  We’ll see if their choice to ally themselves will benefit them in the long run…
  • I don’t like the policemen at all.  They irritate me.  They’re always bragging about how good they are, but they’re always in the back of the pack!  Weren’t they the ones who said that they were going to “win every leg”?!  More like BARELY make it thru each leg.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Hurt Locker

I was REALLY weary about seeing this movie because I knew it centered around military guys who diffuse bombs while out in the field, but…it’s getting A LOT of accolades and award nominations…so when the opportunity arose for me to be able to see it (thanks again RT :-) ), I decided I needed to see what it was all about.

Boy, am I glad I did!  It was  REALLY well-made movie!  Very effective and very suspenseful.  Kathryn Bigelow (who they’re saying will probably be the first woman to win an Oscar for directing in a LONG time) did an awesome job!

First of all, the main actor in the movie, Jeremy Renner, did a terrific job of playing the main “blaster” guy…he’s basically the one who goes out there, right up to the bomb, to diffuse it.  And he’s the ONLY one who gets that close to the bombs.  What was great about Jeremy’s character James was that he had such a no-fear attitude it was ridiculous!  He was actually quite annoying to the rest of his team because he was so “cocky” if you will…he would just go in there like he owned the place, yank these bombs right out of ground (in some cases) and just find the detonators and diffuse it.  Pretty crazy actually.  But I do think it was THAT particular attitude that made him so good at his job.  In a job as terrifying as that, you can’t be wishy-washy or timid…it’ll get you killed.  Affects you emotionally and mentally, but he seems to really love and thrive on his job. Crazy stuff.

The main reason why I was SO weary about seeing this movie was my fear of how VIOLENT it was gonna be.  I didn’t know if I could take it if they showed bodies being blown apart by the bombs, etc.  The violence level couldn’t have been farther away from what I thought.  There really wasn’t much violence, considering.  I mean, bombs DID detonate, people DID die, but graphically, there wasn’t much.  The only part I WILL warn you about is ONE particular scene…and all I will say is (*SPOILER*):  body bomb.  You can use your imagination on that one…

Just a couple of notable cameos that I didn’t know of from the movie…Ralph Fiennes plays a soldier that Jeremy Renner’s team comes in contact with.  His part if fairly short, but it was actually really cool to see Ralph in such a “dirty”, manly role.  So used to seeing him all primped and proper.  He’s still got his British accent, but I actually liked his scruffy look….it was pretty attractive imo. ;-)

The other VERY small role was Evangeline Lilly as Jeremy Renner’s girlfriend.  She literally had like 3 small scenes, with a total of maybe 10 lines, but still.  Had no idea she was even in this movie!

Anyway, I would actually totally recommend this movie.  It’s quite gripping in its way, but the way the movie was done was very good.  It really makes you see what these guys do in a different light…total respect for them.  Would NEVER want to even experience any aspect of it, but give guys like this so much credit for risking their lives like they do.  Can’t believe they have to face death like that on a daily basis.

If you can take the premise and content (but I promise you…doesn’t have NEARLY the violence you would think), it’s worth watching!  Totally understand all the accolades and nominations!
