Not surprisingly, I checked out the new NBC show Parenthood:
First of all…can you say Brothers & Sisters? Even just watching the commercials, you knew it was going to be similar. It’s like NBC’s version of B&S. In my opinion tho…it’s NO Brothers & Sisters…
The show revolves around the Braverman family. The difference between this and Bros&Sis is that while Bros&Sis focuses on the siblings, this show focuses more on the…big surprise…PARENTING aspect. There’s a lot more kids on the show, and the parents have to deal with more issues dealing with their kids…altho the parents themselves have issues too.
The casting is pretty good…Peter Krause (Dirty Sexy Money), Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Erika Christensen (Six Degrees), Monica Potter (Along Came A Spider), Dax Shepherd and Craig T. Nelson (Coach). I know it’s only been one episode, but so far I don’t really get the same feel of chemistry between the family members as on Bros&Sis. But there’s definite potential.
The storylines are pretty typical…rebellious kids, a kid with possible Asperger’s Syndrome (btw, the boy who plays the kid with Asperger’s was Robert’s son on Bros&Sis…how ironic
)…so there’s some heavy stuff in there. But there’s also comedy bits in there as well. It’s a nice family show so I’ll definitely keep watching it. Just don’t expect quite the same feel and “togetherness” as Bros & Sis. At least not yet.

I thought I was going to check out this show (mostly for Lauren Graham and Peter Krause) but I totally forgot. I’ve seen mostly lukewarm reviews of the show so I don’t know if it’s worth it. Honestly, I’m feeling stretched too thin with the shows I DO watch. LOL.

Yeah, this show has potential…but right now it’s a “lesser” Brothers & Sisters. Might be worth checking out once? See if you like it?
Lauren Graham & Peter Krause are both good in their roles…but it’s weird to think they’re supposed to be brother and sister. That doesn’t quite match to me…at least not yet.
