AMERICAN IDOL News: No More Ellen

First Simon…now Ellen.  Ellen has officially announced that she will NOT be returning as a judge on American Idol next season.  Boy, that was a quick run wasn’t it?

“A couple months ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” she says in a statement. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for.”

“I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had, I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

So now they NEED at least ONE more judge.  Don’t think they’re anywhere near finding someone yet, but the names that have been thrown out there are Elton John, Jamie Foxx, Chris Issac, Diddy, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Simpson.  Gosh, I hope none of those people end up being the new judge.  My personal pick would be David Foster. :)

GLEE: More Season 2/Britney Talk

More interviews/talk about Season 2…

We find out a little bit more about the Brittany/Britney episode (which I believe will be the 2nd episode of this 2nd season). Britney songs?! Awesome!

GLEE: Before They Were Stars

What were the Glee actors doing before they were famous?

“I worked at a Bat Mitzvah dress shop in New Jersey”

“I was a singing waiter at an Italian restaurant. I would serve food and then I’d break into a little Italian song and then I would go back into the kitchen and race lobsters with the chefs.”

“I was in a music video. I forgot the artist, it was like David Guetta… I was painted like a fish.”

“I worked at IKEA and it wasn’t a crazy job, I actually liked it.”

“I was a cookie scooper in the cafeteria in the mornings before high school. I worked summers at my cousin’s dry cleaners.”

“I was in a boy band, it was called NLT… definitely no longer exists.”

“Before I was on “Glee,” I was a taxi driver and I was the Walmart people greeter. That was a crazy job too. ‘Hi, welcome to Walmart’."

“I worked at a bagel shop.”

“I worked at Hooters. Trashy right?”

Interesting huh?  Especially Naya’s.  Umm…seems about right tho doesn’t it? :)   Ha!  Actually, in all seriousness, I wouldn’t have guessed that about her.

VIDEO: Gleeks Ready for Season 2!

Just some quick interviews with some of the Glee cast about their excitement to start working on Season 2:

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT 7/28/10: Quarterfinals Group 3 RESULTS

Well, the results are in.  I guess I’m not THAT suprised…

HASPOP:  I’m happy he made it.  He is VERY talented, altho I didn’t feel like his performance this round was as good as last round.  But the judges seemed to love him…and obviously so did America.

THE STUDIO ONE YOUNG BEAST SOCIETY: First of all…WHAT A NAME!  I can’t see them winning the show and having to say, “I wanna see the Studio One Young Best Society!”  Takes too much out of me!  They are probably one of the better dance groups.   To be honest, the only thing I really remember about them is that one really pretty young girl…she’s got a beautiful face! :)

DEBRA ROMER: Funny they put all the singers together in one group.  I predicted Debra would get in…she really was NOT very good vocally last night.  But she’s got the LIKABILITY factor for sure.  She really seems like a sweet girl.  I was almost kinda hoping The Strange Familiar would pull through, but…they couldn’t beat out the “cuteness” of Debra.  I sure hope she gets over her nerves even more and really steps up the vocals…I think she totally has potential…she just has to really kill it next round!

JEREMY: Aww…I was so sad that Harmonica Pierre was in the same group as Jeremy!  I wanted BOTH of them to make it!  Then when Pierre was booted first, leaving the belly dancers & Jeremy…my gosh I was pulling for Jeremy!  Those belly dancers ARE talented, but…come on!  Jeremy bounced his BIKE on skinny little MAN-MADE BARS that were up in the AIR!  Now THAT’S more of a Vegas show!  I was really happy for Jeremy!  He seems like such a shy, humble guy!  Very cute.

Only one group left in the quarterfinals…

THE BACHELORETTE: 25 Things You Don’t Know About Ali

US Weekly posted a list of 25 things that Ali revealed about herself that we may not know:

1. I believe that touching the outside of an airplane before boarding is good luck.

2. My friends call me all sorts of things: Al, Fedo, Fed, A-Fed, Lex, Ali-gator, Raptor.

3. I eat lemon wedges like oranges.

4. I studied couples and intimacy in college. And I was on the hip-hop dance team!

5. I grew up in a town with one traffic light.

6. I am obsessed with air-popped popcorn.

16. I could watch Flight of the Conchords all day, every day.

17. I used to think I had style. . . and then I came to Hollywood.

STYLE WATCH: An Evening of Music with the Cast of Glee 7/27/10 + *POLL*

The Glee cast starts filming Season 2 tomorrow…but tonight there was an event held for TV Academy members…MOST of the cast was there (I know Dianna Agron wasn’t)…here’s some pics:

  • Mark looks “freshly shaven”…Nice and clean.  Not a big fan of the jeans…too faded makes it look less “classy”…but at least he has the jacket.

  • I like the color and style of Jenna’s dress.  Her hair is really pretty too!
  • I LOVE Cory’s new haircut.  So slick and clean cut!  LOVE IT!  Makes him look older and more mature somehow too…Nice! :)

  • I like Jayma’s hair A LOT!  Very cute.
  • She’s so skinny she can wear anything.  Interesting pattern/design on the dress…

  • Naya seems to have a “softer” look here…very “pure.”  Having the white helps I guess.  Her hair is nice and soft too.
  • Black shoes with white dress…interesting.

  • OMG…Matthew & Mark are wearing almost EXACTLY the same thing!  What’s up with that?!  Ha!

  • Wow…very dressed up Heather!
  • That skirt is…interesting.

  • This sweater/tie thing really works for Chris.  Simple and casual.

  • I think Lea looks GORGEOUS!  Her dress…makeup…hair…FLAWLESS!  And also kind of light and fun!  In my opinion, this was probably one her best looks!
  • Hmm…seems like the one-shoulder look is the trend right now?

Who was YOUR favorite?

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: Quarterfinals 7/27/10

Tonight’s lineup of acts on America’s Got Talent was a bit underwhelming…but here are the acts that I thought were pretty good:

HARMONICA PIERRE:

  • I liked Pierre!  He’s VERY talented on the harmonica, I must say!  I like that he did a very current song too…Hey Soul Sister.  He’s a cute man as well!  I can see what Howie was saying about how it might not be BIG ENOUGH for a Las Vegas act, but…he’s entertaining!  Sweet guy!

THE STRANGE FAMILIAR:

  • I totally agree with Sharon – WRONG song choice.  Time After Time is a great song, but…didn’t really work the best for this situation.
  • The lead singer girl has a great voice…although this song wasn’t the best example of that…until the end where she hit that note.
  • I kinda agree with Piers…she should totally go solo.  Too bad one of the guitarists in the band is her husband. :-/

JEREMY VANSCHOONHOVEN:

  • I like this guy…such a sweet shy guy.  Very talented on that bike!
  • When he got blindfolded and hopped over each of those bars…WOW!  I mean, those bars were so thin…if he missed…boy, talk about an epic fail.  That was pretty impressive!

GLEE Guys To Co-Host TCAs!

It was just announced today that the Glee guys – Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, Chris Colfer & Kevin McHale – will be co-hosting the Teen Choice Awards this year alongside Katy Perry!

Glee has 13 TCA nominations.

How fun for them!  Hmm, I don’t always watch that awards show, but now…I may have to.  Wanna see how the guys’ hosting skills are. ;)

GLEE @ Comic-Con: More Spoilers for Season 2

Most of the Glee cast (the ones that weren’t there last year) attending Comic-Con 2010 over the weekend and participated in a panel discussion where a bunch of spoilers/tidbits were revealed about the upcoming season:

  • Tina will fall out of love with Artie and start falling in love with MIKE CHANG. Wow!  They’re really trying to bring in the “other” characters.  Cool!  I know a LOT of people like Mike/Harry Shum Jr, so it should be very interesting.
  • The Britney Spears episode, called “Britney/Brittany” will be airing in September and will consists of six songs. “We’re doing it in a very funny way. We’re doing it in a fun, hallucinogenic way,” Ryan reveals. Since Matt Morrison publically voiced his objections to a Britney-themed episode, Mr. Schuester will spend the whole episode refusing to do Britney songs. Ha! Awesome, right? So we finally get to see Brittany/Heather Morris sing!  Awesome!  Brittany makes such an impact on the show with her funny lines & ditziness, it’s nice that she’ll be getting her time in the spotlight.
  • Ryan confirmed that Idina Menzel will be back for season two. All I can say is…THANK YOU! :)

  • The writers are toying around with having Brittany and Santana kiss. Naya Rivera was also kind enough to drop their fan-given couple name: “Santittany. I won’t be surprised if it happens…those two are so attached at the hip anyway.
  • Ryan announced they will be doing a Rocky Horror Picture Show-themed episode. Oh my…now THIS is when they should bring Adam Lambert on!  Theatrical much? :)
  • SEASON PREMIERE: The first half of the premiere episode will be catching up with everyone and what they did on their summer vacation. Ryan plans on starting the gang at “ground zero,” as he calls it. “They start the year as bigger losers than they were last year because of their very public third-place finish.”

  • Ryan revealed an upcoming episode theme to be religion. Songs to be covered: “Losing my Religion” and “Papa, Can You Hear Me?” Also, Mercedes will be taking Kurt somewhere special: her church! This should be interesting.  You know how religion is such a “touchy” subject…hopefully the show handles the topic “carefully.”  I’m sure with their own “Glee twist” as well. ;)
  • FAMILY LIFE: We are going to get glimpses into the home lives of New Directions. Ryan is interested in meeting Artie’s mother, Rachel’s two gay dads, and he also believes that Brittany has a “really smart older sister.” Been WAITING to meet Rachel’s dads, especially now that we know who her mom is.  Brittany’s smart sister…awesome. :)

Can’t wait!  Only…2 more months! :P

MOVIE REVIEW: Despicable Me

Just saw Despicable Me in 3D last night.  The verdict?

  • Steve Carell’s character, Gru is very endearing.  Starts off as a “meanie,” then becomes “lovable.” :)
  • The minions are pretty hilarious:  “You can hold your breath for…30 seconds…That’s impressive.” LOL!  You have to see it to get it. :)
  • 3D was PRETTY GOOD…I still think How To Train Your Dragon was better, but this was a close 2nd.
  • Couldn’t even recognize Jason Segal, Russell Brand or Steve Carell’s voices.  They did a good job.
  • Love that not only was there comedy and drama…but there was HEART.  Very touching.  I love stories like that.

To be honest, the movie is TOTALLY worth watching because of the 3 little girls in the movie…Margo, Edith & Agnes:

Edith (left), Agnes (center), Margo (right)

They are A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E.  Especially Agnes:

Just to give you a taste, watch this montage of Agnes below.  I’m telling you…you WON’T BE ABLE TO RESIST her:

What did I tell you?! :)

GO WATCH IT!

PRIVATE PRACTICE NEWS: Amelia is Here To Stay

It was just announced that Caterina Scorsone, who was introduced late last season on the show as Derek Shepherd’s sister, Amelia…is being promotoed to SERIES REGULAR for this upcoming season.

Just when we thought that her role was short-lived…Hmm…guess the show thought they needed to “spice” things up by adding a new cast member.  I just hope they don’t somehow do a love triangle with Amelia/Sam/Addison now that Amelia will be around for a while…

Thoughts?

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Quarterfinals 7/20/10: Antonio Restivo

As far as all the illusion/magic acts they have this season, I do enjoy watching Antonio.  Yes, he uses FIRE, which is pretty popular.  But he’s very showy in the way he uses it…and at LEAST he does actual MAGIC TRICKS/ILLUSIONS with it.

Not to mention Antonio SCREAMS Las Vegas…just look at him!  If he doesn’t say “Vegas act,” I don’t know what does! :)

As you could probably guess, one of the main reasons I like him is because he is SO grateful for the opportunity.  I never feel like he’s getting too “big for his britches,” where his ego is just exploding.  Not at all.  He seems like a normal guy who loves what he does…has been working REALLY HARD for this…and would LOVE to have the opportunity to make this a career and get this big break.  Good luck to him!

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Quarterfinals 7/20/10: Mona Sampath Dance Company

OK.  I know this group isn’t necessarily the MOST UNIQUE or anything SUPER SPECIAL…but I like them.  For one thing, I’m partial to Bollywood style dancing.  They’ve featured it numerous times on So You Think You Can Dance the last few seasons, and I always really enjoy watching those routines.  They make me smile and are usually very upbeat and happy.

Mona Sampath is cool because they MIX the Bollywood with contemporary, more current styles of dance/music.  I like that a lot.  Their outfits are very colorful and pretty.  They’re also pretty engaging.

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Quarterfinals 7/20/10: Michael Grimm

OK. First of all, Michael sure CLEANS UP NICE! He’s SO much more handsome like this!

NEXT…Umm, can you say LUKE PERRY mixed with BRAD PITT?! TOTALLY.  He’s quite good looking actually.

Michael’s got a great voice…and he really does have SOUL. IMO, you can’t even COMPARE him with Nathaniel from last week…Michael’s so much more of an artist. I like that he’s very humble too. The only thing I don’t like about him is that he’s a SINGER. Nothing special per se. Just another SINGER.  For AGT, singers just seem…ordinary.  Wonder why he didn’t try out for American Idol instead?
