PARENTHOOD 3/31/11: Taking A Leap

Haven’t blogged about this show in a long time…but now that I know certain people watch this show too, I’ll try to at least commentate a little about the show when I can. ;)

  • Are Crosby & Jasmine finally over?!  Crosby did SO MUCH to try to make it up to Jasmine after he cheated on her with Gaby.  So sad because Crosby FINALLY seemed like he was ready to settle down and really become a family with Jas & Jabbar…poor Jabbar.  You can tell how much he wants BOTH his mom & dad there all together.
  • Poor Amber.  She didn’t get into her dream college, Berkeley…NOR did she get into her “safety school.”  :(  Amber has really come a long way on this show.  I really like her character.
  • Cute to see Zeke so excited about something Sarah did.  He seems to really be trying to support her writing, which is sweet.  Richard Dreyfus…nice touch to the show!  I still think of him in Mr. Holland’s Opus:)
  • The whole Gaby thing is so tough.  I understand why Gaby can’t work for Adam & Kristina, but sucks for Max…Gaby was really good with him!  As for sending Max to a more “normal” school rather than keeping him in his “special school,” I’m kinda with Kristina on this one.  For now, why rock the boat?  The environment is obviously having a positive impact on Max, since his academics are thriving.
  • Joel & Julia…Aww!  So sad!  They wanted another baby so much…and now to find out Julia has a “condition” where it’s REALLY hard to get pregnant again.  Poor things.  And when Julia APOLOGIZED to Joel…Aww!  Totally not something she needs to apologize for.  Oh, and that scene where he was at the doctor trying to “give a sample”…pretty funny. :)

AMERICAN IDOL 3/31/11: Top 11 Redux Results

Double elimination night…

Rather than one big group numer tonight, we got some Idol “mini group” numbers:

LAUREN & SCOTTY  I Told You So:

  • This was the Randy Travis/Carrie Underwood version.  Lauren sounded great…she really belted it, and made it her own (without changing it too much).  Scotty?  Eh.

NAIMA & JACOB  Solid:

  • Not my kind of song…but putting the two of them together was a good idea.  They matched.

THIA, HALEY & PIA  Teenage Dream:

  • Now HOW can you beat The Warblers version?!  You CAN’T! :)  But the three ladies did a pretty good job with this Katy Perry song, altho parts of it were a bit detached.  The harmonies were not bad tho.

PAUL, CASEY, JAMES & STEFANO  Band on the Run:

  • They’ve mentioned their “AI house band” before.  Now that we’ve seen them?  Eh.  Not impressed at all.  What song was that?!  Totally was kinda boring for me.

FANTASIA  Collard Greens and Cornbread:

  • Fantasia’s been through a lot lately, but it was great to see her back on Idol.  She’s STILL GOT IT.  I thought her performance was GREAT.  She really showed those Idols how it’s done!  Not sure if I was a fan of that blonde hair tho.  And her advice to the contestants was…PERFECT. :)

BOTTOM 3: Naima/Thia/Paul

  • 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.  I didn’t want to say that Thia was going to be in the B3 again, but…guess she really hasn’t done enough to win America over.

BOOTED: Naima & Thia

  • Naima being booted has been looming for weeks now.  That reggae arrangement was true to herself, but America couldn’t embrace it.
  • Seriously did NOT think Thia would go this early.  I think she should’ve waited a little longer to try out for this show.  She would’ve had more performance experience behind her…which may have helped her open up/let loose a little more.  After all, she was ONLY 15 when she tried out!

Man, now we’re down to only 3 GIRLS and 6 GUYS! Can you say UNEVEN?!  Altho honestly, the only ones that matter (Lauren & Pia) are still there, so we’re still good. ;)  In a way, it’s good that there aren’t as many girls…then the ones that are still there will stand out a little more.  With 6 guys still there, they’re going to start blending together.
