THE CELBRITY APPRENTICE 5/1/11: Shear Madness

Oh boy…Nene vs Star…Let’s go!

Nene REALLY went after Star right from the beginning.  Star telling Nene to be the PM…really got Nene going.  Altho Nene is so abusive verbally, gotta say…Star is VERY smart in how she handles herself.  She easily could’ve just screamed back at Nene…but no.  She backed away and avoided that type of confrontation.  Smart lady.

Talk about awkward…after all the confrontation, the ladies now had to work together.  Give them credit tho…they were able to “get past” the issues and work together.

John Rich had an AWESOME idea to call/bring back Niki Taylor to help Backbone.  A bunch of guys having a hair task…they already had a definite disadvantage.  The ladies must’ve been KICKING THEMSELVES after they found out about Niki helping the guys.

Wow…LaToya REALLY wasn’t happy about being fired.  Never saw someone plead to come back like that.  You KNEW Trump would do it.  Totally added to the drama.  Interesting how LaToya…without a doubt…will side with Nene over Star.  Considering how much Nene said about LaToya too…and attacked her as well.

The boardroom was as expected.  Basically Nene vs Star.  Hope didn’t have much of a chance.  She really was just too weak and luckily was able to slide under the radar up until now.  Once again, Star is very smart in situations like this.  While Nene goes for the jugular and just doesn’t hold back…basically attacking her…Star just sits there calmly and holds her ground withOUT attacking back to Nene in the same way.  Of COURSE you’d keep Nene and Star…and get rid of Hope.  Much better TV drama, plus Star & Nene really ARE much STRONGER players.  Hope wouldn’t stand a chance against either one.

GLEE PROMO #3: 2.19 “Rumors”

Here’s a third promo for Tuesday’s new episode:

THE OFFICE 4/28/11: 7.22 “Goodbye Michael”

Michael Scott has left the building. :(

Credit: videogum

The last episode with Michael Scott (Steve Carell).  Gosh, it’s so hard to believe he won’t be back at Dunder Mifflin next week.  The finale was…appropriate.  I thought they did it in the best “Office” way.  Michael was able to have “personal moments” with pretty much everyone, albeit in his own “Michael Scott” way (some of them were pretty awkward or crazy…Umm, Oscar’s?  Toby’s?).

The best moments Michael had were with Dwight & Jim.  Dwight’s was really touching…Michael giving him a letter of recommendation, saying what a great person Dwight was. Aww!  Then they had a paintball showdown outside…that was pretty cute.  Jim’s moment with Michael was really sweet.  They both got to say what they wanted without it getting too mushy.  Altho I was crying watching it.  Mainly because you know it wasn’t just Jim & Michael…it was John & Steve.  VERY TOUCHING.  Loved their scene.

Pam’s goodbye was the most interesting.  She had to chase him down at the airport as he was leaving!  Plus, Michael had taken off his microphone so we couldn’t hear a word of their goodbye.  Pretty interesting.  Glad they had a moment tho.  How could he NOT say goodbye to Pam?!

To be honest, the show hasn’t been as good this whole season.  And now that Michael is gone…can’t believe it’ll get any better.  Adding Will Ferrell for these last few episodes hasn’t done much either.  Altho I’m kinda interested to see the end of the season when they bring in celebs Ray Romano, James Spader, Ricky Gervais &…Jim Carrey?!  Wow.  That’ll be interesting.

The show did a good job with Michael/Steve’s goodbye…but I really don’t think the show can last without Steve Carell.  And why should it?!  HE WAS The Office.  He will DEFINITELY be missed…

PRIVATE PRACTICE 4/28/11: 4.19 “What We Have Here…”

  • Nice to have Addison back!  Sad about her and Sam tho…you know they they both love each other…it’s just the baby issue.  But in a way, they aren’t QUITE meant to be since they don’t agree about having a child.  And if it’s that important to Addison, she can’t possibly be “OK” with staying with Sam without a baby…it would bother her too much.
  • I like that they touched about Charlotte’s past and her ex-husband.  Gotta say, the guy wasn’t THAT attractive.  Thought he’d be better looking. :P  That was a bit of a twist to reveal he was gay.  Poor Charlotte…all these years she must’ve been wondering what SHE did to make him cheat on her.  At least now…thanks to Cooper getting in touch with him…she knows the truth.  She has closure.
  • Is that critic lady THAT worth it to Sheldon to give up his friendship with Violet?!  I didn’t think they were THAT great together.  I can see both sides tho…Sheldon shouldn’t have even TRIED to get to know that lady knowing how she tore Violet apart in her review…and Violet shouldn’t make Sheldon give up what COULD be a long-term relationship for her own personal reasons.  I’m sure this won’t be forever tho…just sad that they can’t be friends right now.
  • Violet & Katie…Violet is WAY too caring sometimes for her patients.  Yes, Katie is supposedly better and Violet WANTS to be able to help her.  BUT, as Pete said, the MOMENT she attacked Violet…that relationship was over. That was crossing the line BIG TIME.  Violet should NOT feel bad.  I do feel a little bad for Katie and the fact that she can never live down her past…but that’s part of her decisions and how she lived her life.  Even if Violet were to take her book off the shelves, Katie will ALWAYS have to live with what happened…and people are BOUND to find out about it anyway.  Altho Katie finally did drop the lawsuit (when she came to visit Violet after hours at her office, that was a bit creepy/scary), now Violet has to worry about her license possibly being revoked.  When it rains, it pours…

NEW SHOW: The Voice

When I first saw the commercial for this show, I was like…Come on…ANOTHER singing show?!  But I read good things about it, so I tried checking it out.  I have to say, it was pretty interesting.  Very different concept compared to other singing competition shows.

Credit: daemonstv

The show stars Carson Daly as host…along with 4 celebrity music artist coaches:  Adam Levine (Maroon5), Cee-Lo Green, Christina Aguilera & Blake Shelton.  Each coach is trying to make a team of 8 contestants that they will mentor/coach to try to become “The Voice.”

So each contestant comes on stage to perform, but the coaches all have their backs turned so they can’t see the contestant.  They can only base their “vote” on “the voice.”  If a coach likes what they see, they have to push the button on their chair before the contestant stops singing.  Their chair will turn to face the contestant, and that indicates that that coach wants to work with them.  The contestant is guaranteed to move on.  If more than one coach pushes their button, the CONTESTANT gets to decide which of the interested coaches they want to work with.  If none of the coaches push their button, the contestant is out of the competition.

I will say that the contestants they have for this show ARE better than a lot of the contestants we’ve seen on American Idol.  They seem much more seasoned…not as naive or “newbie.”  Here are some of the ones that stood out to me:

JEFF JENKINS  Bless the Broken Road:

  • Jeff was the first contestant where ALL FOUR coaches wanted to work with him.  He may not necessarily LOOK like a star, but he’s got a great personality and his voice is just great.  It was cute to see Adam fight for him.  Adam is very picky…he doesn’t just go for anyone.
  • Umm…Adam Levine has NEVER heard the song Bless the Broken Road before?!  He didn’t even know that it was a country song.  Are you KIDDING ME?!  I thought he was joking at first.  How could he NEVER have heard it?!  It was played EVERYWHERE!  That was really disappointing.  Is he that ignorant?!

REBECCA LOEBE  Come As You Are:

  • Rebecca’s version of this song was awesome.  SO DIFFERENT than the original Nirvana version.  She made it almost jazzy.  Very cool.  Nice to hear a female voice on this song too.  Just for originality alone she should go thru.

TJE AUSTIN  Just The Way You Are:

  • This guy wasn’t what I expected.  The show really covered up what he looked like until midway thru his performance.  When you see his intro piece and the video of his parents, even MORE you did NOT expect Tje to look like that.  I really want to hear more about his story (I’m assuming he’s adopted ;) ).  He’s a good looking guy with a great voice.  Totally don’t blame Christina for being jealous she didn’t show interest in Tje.

JAVIER COLON  True Colors:

  • Javier was my favorite of the night.  His version of True Colors was just awesome.  The whole stripped down acoustic version was perfect.  He made it his own, showed off his range.  His backstory made him even more likable.  How he’s doing it for his family.  Seems like such a devoted husband and father.  His two daughters were adorable.  He was a great “catch” for Adam.

I do notice that Blake tends to wait to the bitter end to push his button a lot of the time.  One of the contestants actually asked Christina why she “took so long” in pushing her button.  To be honest, I would WANT to wait almost to the end…really get a feel for the person singing.  They could start off strong, then fade away…so if you push your button too fast, you won’t get the whole feel of that person.

The show is quite entertaining so far.  It’s interesting to see the coaches “fight” over the contestans…even bicker a bit.  I mean, they each wanna WIN by picking the person who will ultimately be “The Voice.”  It’s also a bit exciting to see if/which coaches push their buttons each time. I wasn’t a huge fan of the celebs they got as the coaches, but now having watched them in action, they make a good mix.  I wonder why they didn’t make it a even 2 female/2 male for the coaches, but…I guess Christina being the lone lady works.

So far each coach has picked 3 contestants to be on their team, so they still have a ways to go to get their 8.  Next week will be a continuation of these blind auditions.  Once they get their teams, they will start coaching these contestants.  The contestants have to then battle it out within their team to make the Top 4 slots on their team (the other 4 will be eliminated).  Then they perform for America and then America votes for who they like.

If you like talent/singing competition shows, this one is worth checking out!
