THE VAMPIRE DIARIES PROMO: 3.10 “The New Deal”

With The Vampire Diaries coming BACK this Thursday, January 5 (yay!), here’s the promo for the new episode!  Klaus is out for REVENGE…

Can’t wait!

RIZZOLI & ISLES 12/26/11: 2.15 “Burning Down The House”

Wow, season finale already?! That sure went by fast! Or is this just considered a “winter finale”? I can’t understand how these cable shows’ seasons work…

  • Kind of a brutal way to die — being burned to death.  And considering the guy was a fireman on top of that… :(
  • Wow, that hit & run was SOMETHING.  So cute tho how Maura’s mom pushes Maura out of the way so that she takes the hit instead of Maura.  Considering how their mother/daughter relationship was never the closest, it was SO SWEET to see her do that for her daughter.  But man did she get HIT!
  • Boy, Doyle just KEEPS on popping up doesn’t he?  I KNOW he’s a gangster/mobster, but I like the guy.  You can tell that he REALLY does care for Maura and wants to be part of her life in any way he can.  And for him to show up at Maura’s mom’s bedside…that’s a pretty big risk on his part.
  • And when Maura’s mom woke up, she mentioned “Patrick”…she means Doyle right?  I didn’t know they knew each other?  Is that why Doyle wanted to make sure the mom survived?  Do they have a history or something?

  • Now what’s the verdict on Jane & Dean?  Do we like them together?  It’s hard for me to think of the guy as anyone else except for Charlie Swan on Twilight. :-P   I guess he’s pretty cute and they’re kinda cute together…but not the most excited about them as a couple tho.  The one thing that’s good is that they’re in the same business, so they can understand each other better and their commitment to their jobs.
  • Man, that ending!  Did they REALLY need to shoot Doyle like that?!  And more than once?

Now the questions are:

  • Does Doyle really die?  My guess (and hope) is no.
  • And when Doyle said “Hope,” I’m assuming that’s the name of Maura’s biological mother?
  • How did shooting Doyle affect Maura & Jane’s relationship?  From the way it ended, there’s obviously some tension…and Maura is NOT Jane’s biggest fan right now.  This incident may create a huge wedge in their friendship…at least for a while.

‘Til next season…

GLEE: Santa Baby (VIDEO)

Supposedly Santana’s version of Santa Baby was supposed to be in the Christmas episode, but ended up not making the cut.  The video of the performance has been released tho…Looks like it was supposed to take place when Santana goes with Finn to the jewelry store (I’m guessing to buy Rachel’s Christmas present).

Enjoy!

LEA MICHELE & CHRIS COLFER: Watch What Happens Live 12/19/11

Lea & Chris were guests on Andy Cohen’s show Watch What Happens Live. They basically discussed the Real Housewives shows (it’s scary how much of a fan Lea is of all those Housewives…she knows WAY too much about them :-P ) as well as Glee. They even revealed an exclusive new tidbit about an upcoming guest star…

It was fun just to see Lea & Chris getting to just be themselves and just “talk story.” Lea is such a fan of all those Bravo reality shows…it’s pretty funny.  And Chris has such a sense of humor.  You can tell the two of them are very good friends.

Here’s their appearance in three parts. It’s a bit long, but if you’re a fan of either of them, it’s worth watching. :)

Enjoy!

And here’s the after-show where they took questions from callers…still just as entertaining. :)

THE X FACTOR 12/21/11: Top 3 Performances + *POLL*

This is it!  The final performances & voting night!  Top 3!

JOSH KRAJCIK

Uninvited (with Alanis Morissette):

  • How COOL was it that Josh got to sing with ALANIS?!  That’s AWESOME!  Not to mention she looked great and sounded amazing!  Josh on the other hand…he didn’t sound the best, if I’m being honest.  He sounded off in parts, and the song, to me, didn’t quite match him.  But it was definitely a cool moment.

At Last:

  • Great idea to play the guitar!  I wouldn’t have pegged him to pick that song to sing.  Josh is a great guy…and this means a lot to him to be in the finals.  Great job.

CHRIS RENE

Complicated (with Avril Lavigne):

  • Interesting song choice for Chris.  But I liked that they didn’t pick a rapper. ;)   It’s funny tho…Chris really isn’t a great singer (and this performance proved that point once again), but the same can be said about Avril.  They both didn’t sound the best, but the performance was cool.

Young Homie:

  • Wow.  I gotta say…Chris Rene, you are SOMETHING ELSE.  Now THAT was a GREAT performance.  It was SO personal and SO moving.  I have to admit that I teared up watching him perform.  This performance totally epitomizes who Chris is, and why America has rooted for and supported him all the way to the finale.  Yay Chris!  You totally deserve being in the Top 3!

MELANIE AMARO

I Believe I Can Fly (with R. Kelly):

  • This was a very fitting song for Melanie.  I do think her confidence level was lower at the beginning of this, but as the weeks went by, she became more confident and really did BELIEVE she could prevail.  And to be able to sing it with R. Kelly…Wow.  This song was SUCH a popular/famous one at one point, and for R. Kelly to sing it as a duet with her for the first time.  What a moment.  I understand what the judges were saying about wanting more…but I agree with Simon.  Melanie was being very respectful to the original artist.  And I do think the key wasn’t the right one for her, but she was matching R. Kelly’s key.  Great job.  Very moving.

Listen:

  • Talk about full circle.  This song was the FIRST one we heard Melanie sing in her audition.  And I still remember that moment…and she was the FIRST contestant where I thought OK, THIS GIRL IS GOOD.  So she’s made an impression on me since the beginning.  And here she is in the finale!  Her performance tonight was even BETTER than the first time, imo.  She sings with such gusto and you can tell that she means EVERY WORD that she sings.  AMAZING!  What else can I say?  PERFECTION.

MELANIE FTW!

AMBER RILEY: All I Want For Christmas Is You (Tonight Show) 12/20/11

To help promote Glee‘s new Christmas CD, Amber Riley performed All I Want For Christmas Is You on The Tonight Show last night.

Amber did a great job!  She sounded awesome and looked great!  Nice to see her making appearances!

Enjoy!

MOVIE REVIEW: New Year’s Eve

As you probably could’ve guessed, I’ve been WAITING for this movie to come out ever since I saw the preview for the first time. Why? Yep, you guessed it — Lea Michele is in it! It’s her first big movie role! But not only for her…there are a SLEW of celebrities in this movie! More than I think I’ve ever seen in one movie together! It’s crazy how many are actually in it…even if some of them literally have like one line in the whole movie!

If you saw Valentine’s Day, this movie is VERY SIMILAR.  LOTS…and in this movie I should say TONS…of different storylines going on all at the same time.  But in this one, all revolving around New Year’s Eve in New York City.

The only two familiar faces from Valentine’s Day are Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Biel…altho weirdly enough they both play totally different characters from the ones they played in VD.  Don’t really get why that is.  But ok…we’ll just go with it…

The movie is very entertaining.  For me, whenever there are a lot of familiar faces, I’m pretty much gonna enjoy it. ;)   There’s so many celebs in it — everyone from Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) to Halle Berry to Zac Efron to Michelle Pfeiffer to  Robert DeNiro in this movie.   But I loved that.

I don’t want to spoil some of the storyline connections, but let’s just say there were some INTERESTING pairings in this movie.  One of the most “mismatched”…at least in my opinion…and I’ve mentioned this numerous time in previous blog posts already…is Lea Michele & Ashton Kutcher.

While Ashton was actually really cute and attractive in Valentine’s Day, can’t really say that about him in this one.  He’s all grungy and pretty grumpy for most of the movie.  So of all people to pair Lea with…really?!  I was pretty disappointed with that match-up.  He’s too old for her!  Totally would’ve loved her with Zac Efron instead!  I mean…how CUTE would that have been?!  But oh well.

Lea did a great job, even tho her part is pretty small.  AlTHOUGH she did get some MAJOR singing airtime towards the end.  Her performance of Auld Lang Syne was one of, if not MY FAVORITE part of the whole movie!  It was SUCH a beautiful rendition of the song, and the way they executed it was just PERFECT.  Seriously.  The song is totally ON REPEAT on my iPod at the moment.  LOVED IT.

So if you want a movie that’s just entertaining and kind of gives you a good feeling all around (but not without a few touching/emotional scenes as well), go see this movie!  EsPECIALLY if you like seeing a lot of famous celebrities! :)   Oh, and a tip — STAY for the end credits!  You won’t be disappointed!  Fun stuff! ;)

Definitely worth seeing…!

DIABLO CODY: The Tonight Show 12/19/11

Diablo Cody, who wrote the movie “Juno” and also wrote the new movie “Young Adult” with Charlize Theron, was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight.

Gotta say, her interview was one of the most entertaining I’ve seen in a while. She’s quite hilarious…but she’s so subtle and dry about it. Good stuff. :)

Enjoy!

GLEE PROMO: 1.10 “The Proposal”

Here’s the promo for the next new episode, airing in January (I believe not until January 17!). :(

Looks like someone’s going to propose…

Enjoy!

THE X FACTOR 12/14/11: Top 4 Performaces + *POLLS*

Semifinals!

MARCUS CANTY

I’ll Make Love To You:

  • I voted for this song for Marcus to sing because I could totally hear him singing it.  And sure enough, this song matched him really well.  Was it really memorable?  Umm…no.  But his performance was pretty much how it always is.  Totally fine.

Careless Whisper:

  • Didn’t like this version.  He sounded a little off the whole time.  But what I will give him credit for is for arranging it into the type of music that Marcus would actually sing.  But I personally didn’t like it.

CHRIS RENE:

Fly:

  • This was another song that I voted for for.  Sugar Ray and Chris Rene…kinda go together.   Chris definitely still needs to work on his vocals, but when he goes into his little rapping stuff, he makes up for it.

No One:

  • It’s amazing how Chris can sound SO MUCH better vocally on certain songs versus other songs.  Didn’t think Chris would be able to pull this song off since it’s much more of a SINGER’s song…But surprise surprise, he sounded great!  And once again, he’s just got that heart and genuineness about him that is SO relatable and makes you want to root for him.  He did a great job!

MELANIE AMARO:

Hero:

  • I actually voted for another song for Melanie to sing…UNTIL I found out Melanie herself wanted to sing Hero.  One word = PERFECTION.  That was amazing.  I LOVED the key change.  The arrangement gave it such a more haunting feel.  So exposed and so vulnerable.  AWESOME.  And she looked great!  LOVED it.  Wish they would RECORD these songs!  I wanna buy a full version!

Feeling Good:

  • Although this song is a bit oversung on American Idol, Melanie singing it just makes it all “new” again. ;)   She’s just SO effortless.  What’s so AWESOME about Mel is that she’s got that big booming voice, so she can hit these huge notes…but then what’s even better is usually when she ends her songs, she doesn’t end with a huge money note.  While that would definitely be impressive, it’s even more impressive that she ends with a more controlled, softer note. Amazing!  Oh, and she finally separated herself from the mic stand at the end!  Good job!

MEL FTW!

JOSH KRAJCIK:

Come Together:

  • This song really matched Josh.  I believe this was the song he wanted to sing too.  He sounded great as usual.  Once again tho, I wasn’t wowed.  It was just very good.

Hallelujah:

  • I believe this is only the 2nd time Josh played the piano in a performance.  It’s really great when he does.  This arrangement was very vulnerable.  He did a great job.  When he gets those “crazy eyes” tho…it’s a little creepy, I gotta say.  But I’m sure he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it.

This week, NO FINAL SHOWDOWN, NO JUDGE’S PICK.  Now THAT could definitely change things.  The judges REALLY have NO CONTROL this week.  Good and bad with that one.  So that means you really have to VOTE!

GLEE 12/13/11: 3.09 “Extraordinary Merry Christmas”

After last season’s Christmas episode was actually pretty sad, this season we had a much lighter and happier episode!

  • Lots of singing in this episode!  I will say tho that the songs this time around weren’t quite as good as last year’s…but then again there are only so many Christmas songs to choose from. ;)
  • Lea Michele’s River — So beautiful!  Yes it’s a sad song, but…her voice makes everything sound so good! :)   Plus after last week of her BARELY singing, it’s so great to have her back! :)
  • Extraordinary Merry Christmas — Lea Michele & Darren Criss singing a duet?!  Can’t get better than that!  More please!
  • Umm, the Glee Christmas TV special they did?!  AWESOME.  I LOVED IT.  It was hilarious!  Loved the black & white too!  Brought me back to those “good ole” shows.  Standouts?  Gotta be Chris Colfer & Lea Michele.  They both were amazing…they got that whole cheesy format down pat! ;)   Altho Darren & Amber did great as well.
  • Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town — Hmm…On the Christmas CD, The Glee Project’s Samuel sings this number with Cory & Mark.  I guess it wasn’t his time to be on the show yet, so they cut him out.  Not that I’m complaining.  I was fine with it just being the two guys. ;)   Oh, and the whole Star Wars thing (with Chewbacca!) was hilarious!!!
  • Sam & Quinn weren’t in the tv special!  Sam was pretty cute with Rory in this episode tho.  Still not the biggest fan of Rory…don’t really feel like he contributes much at all.  Even tho I liked Damian back on TGP, honestly could totally do without him. :-P
  • Wow, Sue volunteering at a homeless shelter?  Interesting.  Very sweet how the Gleeks all surprised her at the end and came to help out/sing.  Really love their version of Don’t They Know It’s Christmas.
  • As usual, Rachel started out being a bit self-centered by asking Finn for all those expensive gifts…but she always redeems herself in the end.  Finn’s gift of the pig was…LOL!  Totally wrong gift to give…especially since Rachel’s a vegetarian!  Not to mention it was…A PIG!  Hello?  But his gift of the STAR was…SO SWEET.
  • Matthew Morrison directed this episode…his first!  Great job!

ONCE UPON A TIME 12/10/11: 1.07 “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter”

This was the last new episode of 2011…and boy did they save the best for last!  AWESOME episode!

  • Shockers all around in this episode!  The first one was the fact that The Queen is Snow White’s STEPMOTHER!  WTH?!  Was NOT expecting THAT!
  • We got another LITTLE NUGGET of information about what Snow did to the Queen — The Queen told her a secret and Snow betrayed her.  Now…WHAT is the secret?!!!
  • As most fans had predicted, The Sheriff is THE HUNTSMAN.  Not a surprise.  Interesting how the other theory was that he was the Big Bad Wolf — The Hunstman was also almost like Mowgli from The Jungle Book.  He was raised by wolves!
  • So why did The Huntsman NOT kill Snow?  Because she was SO GOOD and PURE?  That was the same thing that happened in the ACTUAL Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs!
  • The question still remains — Does Mr. Gold know what’s going on in Storybrooke?  Does he know about the curse, etc?  Sure seems like he’s GOTTA know.  He’s so mysterious and creepy.
  • Felt really bad for The Sheriff…He knew something wasn’t right, that he didn’t feel anything…but he couldn’t figure out why.  See, that’s why Henry is SO important to this show.  He’s the “all knowing” that can give these Storybrookers their backstory about who they really are.
  • The HUGE SHOCKER of the episode — THE MAYOR KNOWS!!!  My gosh she TOTALLY KNOWS!!!  When she pushed open the coffin of her father…to reveal a STAIRCASE that leads UNDERGROUND!  OMG!  She has the “heart vault” there in Storybrooke!  The poor Sheriff had NO CHANCE! :(
  • Too bad for Emma & the Sheriff.  They were actually kinda cute together!  The only silver lining about the Sheriff getting killed was that at LEAST he when he died he was HAPPY — he knew why he didn’t feel, and now he finally did feel and was grateful for being able to understand what was going on.  I thought his character was really important to the storyline, but they killed him off!  But I guess he was vital because if it wasn’t for his “relationship” with The Mayor, we never would’ve found out that the Mayor DOES know what’s going on in Storybrooke & about the curse!

Can’t wait for the next new episode!  Which unfortunately won’t be until January! :(   But at least we have something to look forward to!

THE X FACTOR 12/8/11: Top 5 Results *UPDATED*

Wow.  WHAT a results show.  I can’t believe that just happened…

  • When it was Marcus, Melanie & Rachel left, kinda figured Rachel would have to be in the B2.  And already she was crying…
  • Wow, when Steve announced that she was booted, I have NEVER seen a reaction like that.  To fall to the GROUND and start bawling your eyes out…My god.  That was an actual CRYING FIT.
  • Rachel’s reaction was exactly the way a little girl would react.  And Rachel IS a little girl.  13 years old!  And while I understand her reaction, I had a mix of emotions watching it.  On one hand, I was a little sad…I mean, even if I was QUITE annoyed with her after last night, it’s still hard to see a little girl cry like that.  But on the other hand, I felt like…Yes, you can cry…but don’t COLLAPSE to the ground and be so DRAMA QUEEN about it.  Suck it up a little!  I KNOW you’re only 13, but YOU wanted to be on a GROWN-UP show like this, you have to ACT like a grown-up.  I mean, not only did she bawl…but Rachel was screaming for her mom!  Come on now.  At least last week, even tho Drew was devastated, she really did take the news in a pretty classy way.  Rachel’s was TOO MUCH.
  • The Judges’ Vote:  Of ALL people to have to make that FINAL decision, did it HAVE to be Nicole?!  You KNOW she’s got too big of a heart to have to make a decision like this.  The fact that she made it go to lockdown means she pretty much WANTED to send Rachel home.  I don’t think she’d have as much of a problem making a decision if she wanted to send Marcus home (I mean, this was the THIRD TIME he’s been in the B2 already).  At least that’s what I think.  I do wonder what would’ve happened if they asked Nicole first, then made the final decision up to Paula.  Who would Nicole have chosen?
  • But after it went to lockdown, that’s it.  It’s OUT OF THE HANDS of the judges…so Rachel going home was NOT Nicole’s fault…it was AMERICA’S.  I felt SO BAD for Nicole when Steve asked her if she wanted to say anything to Rachel, and the studio audience BOOED her!  WTH?!  If YOU ALL (the studio audience) had voted ENOUGH for Rachel, she WOULD STILL BE HERE.  So don’t go blaming Nicole.  I thought that was unfair to Nicole.  You could tell she already felt bad enough.  I mean, she cried JUST AS MUCH, if not MORE than Rachel did!
