I jumped on the Harry Potter bandwagon a little late…as far as the books go, anyway. I watched the first Harry Potter movie, THEN I got into the books. They have become one of my favorite series of books of all-time. The storyline is obviously super fantasy-filled, but it’s really engaging and exciting! Plus, after 6 books, you really get attached/get to know the characters. Love them all! Altho as the books go along, they have gotten significantly darker…a LOT darker.
As you probably could guess, the books are WAY BETTER than the books. But the movies are cool because you get to see what you read come to life! Sometimes it doesn’t live up to your imagination, but it’s still cool to see.

Not surprisingly, the new HP movie, Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince, set a record for the most money brought in JUST from the midnight showings on the premiere night! $22.2 million in sales domestically! The previous record was held by The Dark Knight, which only brought in $18.5 million.
Harry Potter is SO popular that I’m not surprised. But I do think a lot of the reason for the big numbers had to do with the fact that the movie pushed back its opening. HP movies usually come out in November, which is when this one was supposed to come out. Then they pushed it back until now. The reason for the delay? My guess would be that Twilight was coming out in November also, so they didn’t want to “share the glory.”
Or…knowing how much of a crazy Twilight was…maybe they didn’t want to experience defeat. :-p In any case, summer is better viewership anyway, especially for these kind of movies…all the kids are out of school and have time to see it OVER and OVER again…
Smart move. Can’t wait to see it!
Oh, and BTW…For those of you who don’t know, I have NOT read the last HP book yet, so…DON’T TELL ME ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS! I repeat: DO. NOT. TELL. ME. ANYTHING. I will be reading it soon. Thank you.
