RANDOM ITEM: Twilight Manllows

OK, be prepared to be FREAKED OUT…

Found these RANDOM items online (via Twitter)…supposedly someone decided to market some manllows (“man pillows”) in the shapes/faces of Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner from Twilight.

Are you kidding me?!

Robert Pattinson manllow

Taylor Lautner manllow

If you ever saw the 30 Rock episode with James Franco, he had a similar human-sized pillow (his was of a female manga [japanese comic]).  His was actually quite hilarious:

These Twilight ones?  I’m officially freaked out.  They’re so UGLY!  Couldn’t they have put better faces on the pillows?!  Is the Twilight craze THAT out of hand?!  The manllows sold out the day after Valentine’s Day, so…I GUESS SO.

What will they come up with next?!

KATE GOSSELIN: “I Just Want You To Know”

Kate Gosselin’s been keeping busy, even after the cancellation of Jon & Kate Plus 8.  Kate will be releasing another book, her third:

I Just Want You To Know:  Letter to My Kids on Love, Faith & Family, will be released April 13.  The book will feature entries from her personal journal, eight letters written to each of her kids, and prayers of encouragement.

“Each day the thought crosses my mind that when they get older, my kids are going to look back and think about how they were raised,” Gosselin says in a statement. “I know they will have a lot of questions about things that may not make sense because they were raised so unconventionally. I don’t want them to grow up and wonder; I want them to know without a shadow of a doubt how much I love them and how much every sacrifice made was worth it for them.”

“I’m writing this book to encourage other mothers. Being a mother is the most tiring job you will ever have, and it’s the most worthwhile job. I want to inspire moms to create the memories and traditions that will provide their kids with a good foundation. ‘Moms, don’t ever stop doing your best. Don’t ever stop trying to make today better than yesterday.’ That’s the message of this book.”

Looks like Kate’s sporting her new “do” on the cover as well.  New look, new book. :-)

Harry Potter: Record breaking sales

I jumped on the Harry Potter bandwagon a little late…as far as the books go, anyway.  I watched the first Harry Potter movie, THEN I got into the books.  They have become one of my favorite series of books of all-time.  The storyline is obviously super fantasy-filled, but it’s really engaging and exciting!  Plus, after 6 books, you really get attached/get to know the characters.  Love them all!  Altho as the books go along, they have gotten significantly darker…a LOT darker.

As you probably could guess, the books are WAY BETTER than the books.  But the movies are cool because you get to see what you read come to life!  Sometimes it doesn’t live up to your imagination, but it’s still cool to see.

Not surprisingly, the new HP movie, Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince, set a record for the most money brought in JUST from the midnight showings on the premiere night!  $22.2 million in sales domestically!  The previous record was held by The Dark Knight, which only brought in $18.5 million.

Harry Potter is SO popular that I’m not surprised.  But I do think a lot of the reason for the big numbers had to do with the fact that the movie pushed back its opening.  HP movies usually come out in November, which is when this one was supposed to come out.  Then they pushed it back until now.  The reason for the delay?  My guess would be that Twilight was coming out in November also, so they didn’t want to “share the glory.” :-)   Or…knowing how much of a crazy Twilight was…maybe they didn’t want to experience defeat. :-p  In any case, summer is better viewership anyway, especially for these kind of movies…all the kids are out of school and have time to see it OVER and OVER again…

Smart move.  Can’t wait to see it!

Oh, and BTW…For those of you who don’t know, I have NOT read the last HP book yet, so…DON’T TELL ME ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS!  I repeat:  DO. NOT. TELL. ME. ANYTHING. I will be reading it soon.  Thank you. :-)
