LES MISERABLES CASTING: Amanda and…TAYLOR?!

According to broadwayworld.com, the casting for the movie version of Les Miserables is about wrapped up.

Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls) is being offered the role of Cosette, while…and I can’t believe I have to say this…

TAYLOR SWIFT is being offered the role of Eponine!

Man, I was worried this would happen.  As I stated in my earlier post about this, it’s just NOT RIGHT.  I am a fan of Taylor’s, but…we’re talking BROADWAY songs here!  And not just Broadway songs, one of THE BEST songs in all of Broadway (On My Own)!  And when someone like LEA MICHELE is in the running?  COME ON!

But I DO understand why they would choose Taylor over Lea.  Just based on the amount of FANS Taylor would attract can outshadow the level of vocal ability/talent for the role (Not only does Taylor not have the best voice, but she doesn’t have much acting experience either!). :-P  Although this IS a movie, so the vocals in the movie can definitely be “PERFECTED.”  But STILL!

I’m so sad about this…

LEA MICHELE: Auld Lang Syne (New Year’s Eve) *SPOILER*

Woohoo! Found a video clip from the movie New Year’s Eve…when Lea Michele sings Auld Lang Syne!  Probably my favorite part of the movie! It was SO beautifully done and Lea sounded AMAZING!

If you’re a fan of hers, worth seeing the movie JUST for this part! ;)

*WARNING* If you plan to see the movie, don’t watch this clip…They intertwine her singing with the other storylines in the movie.  So there are some key elements revealed in the clip.  *SPOILERS*!

Enjoy!

MOVIE REVIEW: New Year’s Eve

As you probably could’ve guessed, I’ve been WAITING for this movie to come out ever since I saw the preview for the first time. Why? Yep, you guessed it — Lea Michele is in it! It’s her first big movie role! But not only for her…there are a SLEW of celebrities in this movie! More than I think I’ve ever seen in one movie together! It’s crazy how many are actually in it…even if some of them literally have like one line in the whole movie!

If you saw Valentine’s Day, this movie is VERY SIMILAR.  LOTS…and in this movie I should say TONS…of different storylines going on all at the same time.  But in this one, all revolving around New Year’s Eve in New York City.

The only two familiar faces from Valentine’s Day are Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Biel…altho weirdly enough they both play totally different characters from the ones they played in VD.  Don’t really get why that is.  But ok…we’ll just go with it…

The movie is very entertaining.  For me, whenever there are a lot of familiar faces, I’m pretty much gonna enjoy it. ;)   There’s so many celebs in it — everyone from Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) to Halle Berry to Zac Efron to Michelle Pfeiffer to  Robert DeNiro in this movie.   But I loved that.

I don’t want to spoil some of the storyline connections, but let’s just say there were some INTERESTING pairings in this movie.  One of the most “mismatched”…at least in my opinion…and I’ve mentioned this numerous time in previous blog posts already…is Lea Michele & Ashton Kutcher.

While Ashton was actually really cute and attractive in Valentine’s Day, can’t really say that about him in this one.  He’s all grungy and pretty grumpy for most of the movie.  So of all people to pair Lea with…really?!  I was pretty disappointed with that match-up.  He’s too old for her!  Totally would’ve loved her with Zac Efron instead!  I mean…how CUTE would that have been?!  But oh well.

Lea did a great job, even tho her part is pretty small.  AlTHOUGH she did get some MAJOR singing airtime towards the end.  Her performance of Auld Lang Syne was one of, if not MY FAVORITE part of the whole movie!  It was SUCH a beautiful rendition of the song, and the way they executed it was just PERFECT.  Seriously.  The song is totally ON REPEAT on my iPod at the moment.  LOVED IT.

So if you want a movie that’s just entertaining and kind of gives you a good feeling all around (but not without a few touching/emotional scenes as well), go see this movie!  EsPECIALLY if you like seeing a lot of famous celebrities! :)   Oh, and a tip — STAY for the end credits!  You won’t be disappointed!  Fun stuff! ;)

Definitely worth seeing…!

DIABLO CODY: The Tonight Show 12/19/11

Diablo Cody, who wrote the movie “Juno” and also wrote the new movie “Young Adult” with Charlize Theron, was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight.

Gotta say, her interview was one of the most entertaining I’ve seen in a while. She’s quite hilarious…but she’s so subtle and dry about it. Good stuff. :)

Enjoy!

LEA MICHELE: The Tonight Show 12/7/11

Lea Michele was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight to promote New Year’s Eve…I believe this is the first time she’s been on. Lea was cute as usual…

LEA MICHELE: “New Year’s Eve” Premiere 12/5/11 *UPDATED*

Lea Michele attended the premiere of her movie New Year’s Eve (can’t wait to see it!) tonight.

Lea posed with her co-star Ashton Kutcher:

I honestly still don’t understand why they matched her with him in the movie…he’s too old for her! :-P   They should’ve stuck her with Zac Efron!  Now THAT would’ve cute!!! :)

I liked Lea’s dress!  The neckline was a bit low, but it looked good!

Lea’s date for the night was her pal Jonathan Groff:

Pictures from the after-party:

with Katherine Heigl & Sofia Vergara

with Zac Efron

See how cute the two of them are together?!  Now why did they put her with Ashton Kutcher in the movie?! :-P

with Chris Colfer & Kevin McHale

So cute her cast members came out to support her!

LES MISERABLES: Lea Michele vs…Taylor Swift?!

A movie version of the popular Broadway musical Les Miserables is in the works, and the pivotal role of Eponine (she sings THE famous song On My Own from the show) still hasn’t been cast.

According to reports, a handful of famous actresses are in the running/have auditioned for the part — Scarlett Johansson, Evan Rachel Wood…and two very notable ones being Lea Michele (yay!) and…Taylor Swift?!

You have GOT to be kidding me!  Taylor Swift?!  Come on now!  While I am a fan of Taylor’s, if we’re talking Les Miserables, there’s NO COMPETITION.  Lea Michele WAS in certain productions as Eponine before.  Not to mention the vocal ability.  I mean, can you imagine Taylor singing On My Own?!

I know they may consider Taylor because of the amount of pull/audience she would be able to attract considering how popular she is, but…I’m sorry…let’s just hope they make the right decision on this one…

NEW YEAR’S EVE: Trailer #2

Here’s another trailer for New Year’s Eve:

MOVIE REVIEW: The Help

Ever since I saw the first preview for this movie, I wanted to see it.  Then I started reading all these RAVE reviews about the movie, which just made me want to see it more!

Well, I finally saw it…and boy, did it NOT DISAPPOINT!

I can say enough about this movie…really…it’s SO GOOD.  The basic storyline is about life in Mississippi in the 1960s.  Segregation was still “in tact”…most of the white ladies/families have African-American maids who do all the cleaning, cooking and the raising of the family’s children.

Emma Stone (Crazy Stupid Love) plays Skeeter…a recent college graduate who returned home and got a job as a columnist for the local paper.  She gets help with her column (a Q&A about household tips, etc) from Aibileen (Viola Davis), who is the maid for one of Skeeter’s friends.  As Skeeter starts talking with Aibileen, she comes up with an idea for a book of testimonials (anonymous) from maids and their experiences with the families they work for.

Although the movie is about the segregation and trying to break those “traditions,” it’s also about the relationships between the maids and their bosses/families.  It’s SUCH a touching and moving movie.  I cried multiple times.

The acting in this movie is SUPERB.  Viola Davis (Doubt) & Octavia Spencer are just AWESOME as Aibileen & Minny, the two main maids in the movie.  Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3) plays Hilly, the “main mean girl” in town.  She is SO GOOD in this role…which basically means she is SO UNLIKABLE.  My gosh.  Seriously.  SO GOOD.  The other notable one to mention is Jessica Chastain, who plays Celia Foote…a new wife in town who has quite a reputation (not a good one) among the other wives.  Her character is SUCH a breath of fresh air among all these “stepford wives.”

It’s hard to really sum up this whole movie and all of its good points.  But just trust me.  It’s a MUST-SEE for sure.  It was probably one of the BEST movies I’ve seen this year.  I would HOPE this movie would get nominated for an Academy Award, but I also hope these LADIES get nominated as well…they MADE this movie.

GO SEE IT!

LEA MICHELE: “New Year’s Eve” Trailer

The trailer for Lea Michele’s first feature film, New Year’s Eve, has been released.  If you saw Valentine’s Day, this is the sequel…very similar, altho most of the stars in the movie are different (except for Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel).  I liked Valentine’s Day, so I’m looking forward to seeing this one!  Especially since Lea’s in it! ;-)

Enjoy!

GLEE 3D MOVIE: On The Road with Rachel Berry

Guess this is just a little promo for the Glee 3D Concert Movie with Lea Michele as Rachel Berry. :)

I’m pretty sure that this promo was NOT scripted, as it sure doesn’t seem like the interviewer knows what Rachel is going to say.  Lea’s awesome as usual.  Funny!  Can’t wait for the movie!
