I don’t watch the whole SuperBowl. I really only watch bits & pieces. But I DO watch the halftime show. In fact, that’s the part I look forward to the most (other than the great commercials 
). Highly anticipated, Madonna was the halftime entertainment at the SuperBowl this year.
Madonna sang a medley of her hits…the good stuff too — Vogue, Music, Express Yourself, Like A Prayer…and she also sang her new single, Give Me All Your Luvin’ (great song) with guest appearances by LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. and Cee-Lo Green.
While I couldn’t tell if she was singing live at times (majority of the time I do think she was singing live), plus there were parts where I felt like she wasn’t really dancing to her fullest (and she did kind of have a bit of a “trip moment”), overall I thought she did a great job and I really liked it! Loved that she did some of those classic hits! It was a very entertaining show! And I loved all the video images they flashed on the field, etc. Oh, and she looked great!

The 3rd Idol (Carrie Underwood & Jordin Sparks have done it) to sing the National Anthem at the SuperBowl, Kelly Clarkson did a great job! Altho somehow her rendition didn’t seem as BIG as others. I think it was the arrangement. Maybe because it wasn’t drawn out and dramatic like other arrangements. But it was very similar to how Kelly always sings it. Her performances are cool because they always seem almost improvised.
Yay for singing it LIVE and she even hit that high note at the end, which was pretty perfect!

Rachel McAdams was at the Stanley Cup Finals last night in Boston. The JumboTron focused in on her at one point and Rachel did the CUTEST DANCE. Especially for Rachel, who you usually don’t get to see so animated…it was great to see her be silly like that!

Kelly Clarkson sang the Star Spangled Banner at today’s NBA Finals game. Kelly’s originally from Texas, thus the Dallas shirt.
Besides Carrie Underwood’s version, which I still think is my favorite…This version is up there too. Kelly did a great job…she sometimes does too much of the runs, but today it wasn’t too much…and she made it her own.

Christina Aguilera had the honor of singing the National Anthem at today’s Super Bowl.
To be honest, altho Christina has a very POWERFUL voice, I wasn’t looking forward to her version, as I KNEW it would include A LOT of riffs/runs and adlibbing. And SURE ENOUGH…she didn’t let me down on that front.
The final verdict?
THE GOOD: She definitely was singing LIVE.
THE BAD: She messed up the lyrics! Come on! (Christina sang “what so proudly we watched” instead of the correct words, “o’er the ramparts we watched.”

“Hey christina, maybe next time concentrate a little more on the lyrics to our national anthem instead of your riffs. Thanks! Xo, Eden”

As you could probably guess, I was more looking forward to Glee‘s Lea Michele singing America The Beautiful BEFORE the game than the game itself! And Lea did not disappoint!
Lea did an awesome job! She DID SING LIVE. Lea sounded great…and in true Lea fashion, she added her own little touches to make the song her own without doing TOO much to change the “traditional” version of the song. The Super Bowl is a TOUGH GIG. The sound in there for the person singing…I can’t imagine. All the screaming and the echo when they’re singing…why do you think many of the stars who sing at the game DON’T sing it live? So to sing it live is a big accomplishment!
PERFECT!

Well, in case you missed it, here’s Carrie singing the National Anthem at the Superbowl today:
As I had hoped, Carrie DID sing it LIVE…not to mention the fact that she sang it ACAPELLA as well! That was first time the National Anthem was sung LIVE at the Superbowl in MANY years. Glad Carrie did it!
I will admit that her performance wasn’t perfect tho…and I have heard her sing it PERFECTLY many times. That last note was a bit off…BUT you know that it was only because of all the noise of the crowd…I bet she couldn’t even hear herself once everyone started cheering at the end. The rest of it was quite awesome…she really belted it! It being acapella made it even more impressive! I was a bit disappointed she didn’t do her falsetto high note towards the end tho…she ended up doing it as a “money note” instead…which for this occasion probably matched better. I just loved that she had the guts (unlike most artists) to actually tackle (excuse the pun) this tough song acapella in a venue/atmosphere where others wouldn’t attempt to sing it live.
On another note…not sure if I really liked that outfit…or her hair. But I guess it did match the whole “sport” theme, and she did look pretty glam…

Just watched the anthem back…sounded much better in my head…lol! Oh well, at least people know it wasn’t pre-recorded…but I now understand why someone would! hugs and kisses! We’ll get ‘em next time!

Found a video online of someone taping Carrie rehearsing/doing a soundcheck for the Superbowl tomorrow. She sings the entire National Anthem and sounds AWESOME (altho she doesn’t hit that signature falsetto note towards the end like she usually does…which actually is my favorite part of her version)!
The fact she’s singing it live like that makes me hope that for the real thing tomorrow she ACTUALLY WILL sing it LIVE too (unlike what’s typically done…where the person lipsynchs to a recorded version of themselves)! I mean, we ALL know she’s got the chops to do it…so if anyone was going to sing it live at the Superbowl, it should be Carrie!
