(OTHER) LADIES’ FASHION: Emmy Awards 2011 + *POLL*

Here are just some of my other favorite ladies’ fashion from tonight’s Emmy Awards:

Julie Bowen ("Modern Family")

  • Julie’s so skinny that she can pretty much wear anything, but this dress really suited her.

Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family")

  • Sofia was in the “popular color” group this year…and I love that sweeping across the front!  Fit her so well too!  So pretty!

Cobie Smulders ("How I Met Your Mother")

  • The main thing I loved about this dress was the color!  When in the sea of red, this blue was a breath of fresh air!

Zooey Deschanel ("New Girl")

  • I thought Zooey’s dress matched her so well!  The ribbon around her waist…it added JUST A SPLASH of contrast color!  Loved that!

Martha Plimpton ("Raising Hope")

  • We’re so used to seeing her look so “homey” on Raising Hope that it was so awesome to see Martha so GLAM!  Loved that wine color…she looks great!

Kate Winslet ("Mildred Pierce")

  •  Always the epitome of class, and even tho she was ALSO in the #1 color of the night…which couldn’t have almost been redundant somehow, once again Kate hits a homerun in this dress!  Love the style…so simple yet elegant!  Beautiful!

WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE?

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER 3/21/11: 6.19 “Legendaddy”

We FINALLY get to meet Barney’s REAL DAD…and it’s none other than:

JOHN LITHGOW!  Talk about great casting, in my opinion.  This was actually QUITE the heavy episode…and they sure have been having quite a few of them this season (Marshall’s father’s death, Barney & Nora).  I’m so glad that Barney finally got to meet/get to know his dad…and when he was so disappointed with WHO his dad was (he’s nothing like Barney), I felt bad for Jerry.  He really tried to reach out and make up for lost time.  I do understand tho that it would be hard for Barney to just let him in after all this time.  The scene with Barney & Jerry at the basketball hoop…quite sad and touching actually.  Barney really is just a little boy inside, wishing he had a father growing up…and even now actually.

I wonder if they’ll be bringing John Lithgow back?  I sure hope so.  This can’t have been the end to that storyline…right?

Katy will be playing Honey, the cousin of Zoey (Jennifer Morrison) who Barney ends up revealing things about his life to.

The episode airs February 7th.

20th Century Fox TV’s “Funny Women” Panel – January 12, 2011

Female stars from Glee (Lea Michele & Jane Lynch), Modern Family (Julie Bowen & Sofia Vergara), How I Met Your Mother (Alyson Hannigan) & Raising Hope (Martha Plimpton)  participated in a panel today:

L to R: Julie Bown, Sofia Vergara, Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Martha Plimpton & Alyson Hannigan

Some tidbits from the panel:

  • How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan starting using comedy to her advantage at a young age. “When I was growing up, I knew if I could make my mom laugh, I wouldn’t get in trouble,” she says. “She was either going to yell or laugh.”

  • Without even a laugh track on Modern Family, Julie Bowen is desperate to get her fix. “I’m wildly insecure and I like an instant laugh, but that’s why I have a therapist,” she says. “She laughs at me for two hours a week.”

  • Classic comedies featured women as being the beautiful foil for the man. “She’s there to make him look like an a–,” Martha Plimpton says. “Are women allowed to be funny? Yeah, we’re not there because they’re allowing us to be there, we’re there because…the world is a funny place and it needs women to be funny in it.” Adds Lea Michele: “The mold is changing. You can be beautiful and be funny.”

  • So says Jane Lynch. The 50-year-old funny lady has taken a few roles from men in her day. “When I first started, I did a lot of roles originally written for men. The role in The 40 Year Old Virgin was written for a man. Sue Sylvester is a man,” she jokes.

  • Sofia Vergara does not mind that a wealth of comedy can be found in her butchering of the English language. “With me, [the writers] have no choice,” she says. “I’m so lucky to have this character so perfectly written for me. I’m never going to be able to have another job like this, so I’m taking advantage of my 15 minutes of time — oh, of fame!”

HIMYM Guest Star News: Katy Perry!

Looks like another famous music star (remember when Britney Spears was on?) will be making a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of How I Met Your Mother.

Katy will be on a episode titled “Oh Honey,” where she will be playing the naive and gorgeous cousin of Zoey (Jennifer Morrison) who gets Ted (Josh Radnor) all hot and bothered to the point where he, Barney and the rest of the gang take to calling “honey.”

No word yet on when this episode will air.

FIRST LOOK: HIMYM – Robin Sparkles & Jessica Glitter!

On an upcoming November 15 episode of How I Met Your Mother, they’re bringing back “Robin Sparkles,” Robin’s alter-ego back when she was in Canada.  But this time we’ll meet “Jessica Glitter,” played by Pussycat Dolls’ & Dancing with the Stars winner Nicole Scherzinger! :) Robin & Jessica star in the Canadian kids’ show Space Teens…and the show is also hosted by Alan Thicke. :)

Here’s some sneak peek pics:

Looks hilarious!  Can’t wait!

CASTING NEWS: Jorge Garcia on HIMYM!

According to TV Guide, Jorge Garcia (LOST) will be coming to How I Met Your Mother in November!

Garcia will play Blitz, a college friend of Ted, Marshall and Lily, who has terrible timing, always leaving a room right before things get interesting. When Ted misses a Thanksgiving eve party that Blitz attended, he wonders if he’s now the bro with bad timing.

Cool!

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER 3/1/10: 5.16 “Hooked”

Can’t believe I almost forgot to post about the episode of HIMYM with Carrie Underwood as the guest star!!!

Carrie did an AWESOME job, I must say!  Her acting was quite good, and she matched the role well!  Her character, Tiffany, wasn’t the greatest girl…hence the episode title – “Hooked”. ;)

She got to don a bunch of different outfits and was in quite a few scenes:

I loved that suit she wore…she looked really good!  And she played a pharmaceutical rep…that seems about right, doesn’t it?

Too bad it couldn’t have ended with Tiffany and Ted staying together…then Carrie could’ve been on again!  Oh well.  It was a nice run, and you never know…

Maybe one day Carrie…or should I say Tiffany…will get her “hooks” into Ted again!

Great job Carrie!

VIDEO: First Look at Carrie on HIMYM

E! did a short piece on E! News Daily about Carrie’s upcoming How I Met Your Mother appearance…which is already less than a week away!

Don’t forget…MARCH 1ST!

More Carrie HIMYM Stills

More pics of Carrie’s guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother have been released…seems like she’s in quite a bit of scenes!

Looks like the episode will be airing on MARCH 1!

More Carrie on HIMYM Pics…and JLo!

A couple more pics of Carrie’s guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother have been posted.  So I guess she IS a flight attendant?

And on another note…yet ANOTHER celebrity is coming to the Mother set!

Jennifer Lopez has been cast to make a guest appearance in March!  Jennifer will play Anita Appleby, a no-nonsense author of self-help books that teach women how to train men into relationship machines through the power of denial. When Robin tells Anita how Barney acts toward women, she makes it her mission to “break” him.

First Carrie, now JLo…March sure is a busy month for HIMYM!

FIRST LOOK: Carrie on HIMYM! *UPDATED

*UPDATED

Here’s a really short clip of Carrie filming her appearance on the show:

In the scene, she looks more business like, so maybe the initial description of her charater IS correct.  Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what that and the picture below have to do with her role…

————————

Neil Patrick Harris tweeted this morning:

“This week’s awesome guest star: ‘HIMYM’ – You’ll Love The Way We Fly,”

It’s Carrie!  Hmm…now I’m confused as to exactly who she’ll be playing.  Initially they had said she would be playing “Tiffany, an enigmatic pharmaceutical sales rep and love interest for Ted,” but based on this picture…sure doesn’t seem like it!

At least by this picture, we know Carrie being on the show IS a reality!  Awesome!  Can’t wait!

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER 1/10/10: 5.12 “Girls vs. Suits”

The 100th episode!  Can’t believe it.  Not sure if I thought this show would last this long…but it really is a good show.  This was a pretty good 100th, complete with guest stars & a musical number!  What else could you ask for?  I personally would’ve asked to have Neil Patrick Harris sing even MORE! :-)

  • Love Rachel Bilson!  She’s just so cute!  Nice casting…!
  • AWW MAN!  So she’s NOT the “mother”?!  Darn it!  That would’ve been awesome!
  • So the “mother” is Cindy’s roommate huh?  Hmm…who could it be?!

  • Stacy Keibler!  Two guest starts in one episode!  NIce!
  • Pretty funny how they made her be totally turned off by a man in a suit…
  • Hmm…Keeping your suits or a hot girl?  What a decision for Barney…  Actually, that’s like his worst nightmare, having to choose between those two things!

Now on to the big musical number – “Nothing Suits Me Like A Suit”:

  • I just LOVED hearing Neil Patrick Harris sing.  He was awesome!
  • Totally felt like I was watching a Broadway musical number…and he totally sounded like he was singing a song from Rent or something.  Pretty cool!
  • Whoever wrote that song was pretty clever…great lyrics!

  • Even tho their parts were pretty limited, I’m glad they incorporated everyone else in the song!
  • Funny how when the rest of them had their “singing” parts, they all sorta had British accents?  What was that about? :-)

  • I wonder if they’ll ever consider doing another musical episode?  Maybe next time they can do the whole episode in song!  Like how Scrubs did that one time!  That would be awesome!

The episode was very entertaining…loved the song…great guest stars…AND we found out a little bit more about “your mother”!

CASTING NEWS: Carrie and…Ted Mosby?!

Umm…talk about EXCITING!!!

According to People.com, Carrie Underwood is going to guest star on How I Met Your Mother!  OMG!  HOW COOL IS THAT?!

Carrie will be playing a character named, Tiffany…a pharmaceutical sales rep…and love interest for Ted!  Her episode is scheduled to air in March.

Wow…what a year for Carrie huh?  Holiday special…engagement…now acting gig!

Umm…I don’t think I need to say how I CAN’T WAIT! :-)

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: 100th episode musical!

How I Met Your Mother is going to be airing their milestone 100th episode in January!  The episode is entitled “Girls vs. Suits,” and it includes a musical number!  AWESOME!

Pics per JustJared:

The musical number is entitled “Nothing Suits Me Like A Suit.”  Considering Neil Patrick Harris has done Broadway (Rent), I can’t wait!  Should be a really fun episode!
