As most of you know, I went to the Adam Lambert concert this past Monday at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. I LOVED him when he was a contestant on American Idol a couple of season ago, but never thought I would ever really get to see him perform live. Lucky for me, he made a stop here in Hawaii! And let me just say…his concert was…in a word…AWESOME.
Just a few pics from the show:

The stage before the concert began
One of the biggest surprises to me was the dynamic of the crowd. There were a LOT of middle-aged ladies there. A LOT. If you click on the picture above to enlarge it, take a look at the ladies standing in the front up at the foot of the stage. Are they young girls/ladies? No sir. That was really surprising to me. It was actually kinda cute knowing that “older” ladies like that were so into Adam. After all, he is a BIT extreme…to say the least…but yet they totally embrace him AND were going CRAZY for him during the show!

Adam sounded AMAZING! He voice definitely sounded better than when he was on AI. Altho maybe that’s just because he was singing live. Hearing someone live usually always sounds better (assuming they’re a good singer to begin with, of course
).
His wardrobe definitely didn’t disappoint. So very “ADAM.”
Nothing TOO over-the-top tho.

One of the coolest parts of his show was the fact that they had the strobe lighting going on. It was pretty awesome…and because we were in the balcony, you could really embrace the whole effect of the lights.

One of my favorite parts of the concert was when he did a whole acoustic set. He changed up some of his songs and really stripped them down. I LOVE LOVE LOVED hearing him sing this way because it REALLY showed off just how TALENTED the guy is…and just HOW MUCH he can do with his voice. And he sings SO EFFORTLESSLY.

Our seats were awesome…and they may actually be the best seats I’ve every had at a concert. We were in the balcony, so above it all. If you were on the ground floor (like my sister was), they had to STAND the WHOLE TIME. I’ve sat in the balcony before, but because we were so much closer to the front of the balcony this time, it almost felt like we were in a different theatre. This felt so much more intimate.

One of my only “gripes” was that I wish his set was LONGER. He probably performed for only about 75 minutes or so. Considering he only has one CD out, he really doesn’t have much material to choose from to perform…so I can see why he can’t be out there for over 2 hours singing. But because he sounded so GOOD, I really would’ve loved if he sang at least a couple more numbers.

I already was a big fan of Adam’s…but seeing him live just made me an even BIGGER fan. He really is AMAZING as a performer and artist. He really knows how to work the crowd…and he really did put on a SHOW! Totally would go see him again if I get the opportunity. Hopefully he liked it enough here where he’ll come back again!
