THE GLEE PROJECT 7/31/11: Sexuality

Well, this week was all about acting.  Acting sexual.  Just some quick thoughts:

  • Samuel won AGAIN?!  I really wanted Hannah to win!  Very cool that Mark Salling pointed Hannah out and said how for majority of the Homework Assignment performance, he was watching her! :)
  • Sam & Alex being paired up as a couple for the music video was a bit…awkward, to say the least.  I guess gotta give Sam credit for being able to suck it up and perform it.  Alex was a bit much with his performance.
  • Once again, Lindsay went “all out” and went in for the kiss with Damien.  She is quite good at the acting aspect of this whole competition tho.  I was surprised at how much she struggled with the vocals this week tho.  She obviously isn’t AS versatile as I thought.  See…they’re never going to find someone as good as Lea Michele. ;)  They just won’t.
  • Why are we not surprised that Cameron had a hard time with this week’s theme?  I still don’t understand HOW he thought he could win this thing withOUT being able to do the intimate scenes/acting?  I guess he didn’t know how it would make him feel until he was put in the situation.
  • BOTTOM 3:  Not a surprising group by any means.  So Sam STILL is the ONLY one to NEVER perform for Ryan yet.  Is that a sign?  I hope not!

RESULTS:  Cameron leaving resulted in mixed feelings for me.  On one hand, I still felt that he really matched Glee…a LOT.  I could see him on the show.  When he performed Blackbird for his last chance performance…He was great!  On the other hand tho, I also felt it was TIME.  He had been going downhill for weeks now, and with all these moral issues, I did feel like he just wouldn’t fit.  The show would’ve had too many problems with him and the types of scenes he would be willing to participate in, etc.  Too much of a gamble.  Glad he left on his own.  Altho…to think that Ryan Murphy GAVE HIM another week and was almost begging him to stay…it’s like, how do you turn that down?!  But Cameron did.  Knowing that he ended up saving Damien from elimination by leaving, I’m sure Cameron didn’t regret it.  I think he should just stick to being a musician and singer.

On a side note, at the end when Cameron was singing Keep Holding On…Umm, his recorded voice sounds AMAZING!  He REALLY should just stick to the singing.

We’re really coming down to the wire now…Top 5!

‘Til next week…

THE GLEE PROJECT 7/24/11: Tenacity

Interesting week this week. Unexpected things for sure…

Interesting choice to have Max Adler on as the guest judge…especially since he doesn’t sing & dance on the show.  But it was so great to see him as HIM.  He seems like a really nice guy.

Wow!  2 weeks in a row for Marissa!  Awesome!  I still don’t know how the guest mentor can pick a winner for the homework assignments JUST from watching them do the one song.  I mean…they each only have a couple of lines!  That’s barely a TASTE of what they can do.  But I was glad Marissa is getting attention…she was very “under the radar” for the first how many weeks…

Love the mash-up they did this week for the music video!  And very fitting to do slushies when Max Adler was on…He is, after all, the King of Slushies…prolly slushied the most people on the show.  The only problem I had with the slushie thing was that it was a bit OVER THE TOP.  I mean…all of them didn’t just get slushied…they got SOAKED and SOAKED with slushies.  The WHOLE. TIME.  The art of being slushied lost its effectiveness after the 100th hit, imo. :)   But the contestants (with the exception of Cameron) took being slushied well, especially since they have to keep singing while getting slushied!

B3:  CAMERON/ALEX/MARISSA

  • The two guys wasn’t much of a surprise.
  • I was glad to see Marissa do a last-chance performance just to be able to hear her do a solo.
  • Alex dressed in drag?  My god.  That was SO over the top.  Seriously.  But I have to say, him being in drag actually matched the song better.  Him being Alex the guy singing And I’m Telling You… would’ve been more awkward.
  • He was starting to lose his “coolness” and edge, but seeing Cameron do his original song brought back the guy that we (and the judges) loved.  That was who he really is.

BOOTED:  MARISSA

  • Now that was one of the bigger shockers of the season.  Especially since she seemed like a a frontrunner (I seriously thought she was the dark horse) and it was only her FIRST time in the B3.  But I guess as far as how much they could WRITE for her a character, she just didn’t have as much as the other two.  Very sad.  I’m sad.  I  liked her and could actually see her on Glee:-(

THE GLEE PROJECT 7/17/11: Pair-Ability

Duets this week!  Fun!

I was really happy that Marissa won the Homework Assignment challenge!  Altho she’s good, she really hasn’t stood out, so it was nice that she got recognized.  Yes she and Cameron may have discussed sticking together as duet partners, but…considering how uncomfortable Cameron got when he had to get close to her, I totally don’t blame Marissa for picking Samuel as her duet partner instead.  Totally fair.  After all, she wants to do WELL.

Wonder why they brought back Darren again as the mentor?  I GUESS he’s had experience doing duets on the show…more than some others anyway.  And it was appropriate he worked with Marissa & Samuel on Don’t You Want Me during their one-on-one time…since he did that song with Lea Michele on the show.

All I gotta say is that Alex looked GOOD as a woman!  My gosh.  I still gotta give so much credit to Hannah.  If anything, somehow you’d think she would have the most difficult time and be the most uncomfortable, but no matter what she has to do, she’s been stepping up to the plate and just leaves it all out there!  Great job!  Her attitude is just awesome…and so positive!

I guess I can see where Marissa and Samuel have great chemistry, and they sounded good…I just have a hard time with Sam.  I have a hard time watching him…he’s just not appealing to me.  And I don’t see him on Glee.  But that kiss at the end that Marissa initiated…Wow!  I guess that really worked!  Glad that Marissa is getting more time to shine tho…she deserves it!

To be honest, I felt a bit bad for Damien that he was paired with Matheus.  Cute video, but yet it was a bit awkward.  What seeing them perform together made me realize tho is just how LOW Damien’s voice really is…especially when singing with Matheus.

For me, Cameron & Lindsay’s video was the best overall.  I thought they sounded AMAZING together actually…and their chemistry/acting in the video came across really well!  Yes Lindsay surprised Cameron with that kiss at the end, which once again made him uncomfortable…but it didn’t seem to affect the overall feel of the video.  While Lindsay still is not my favorite (because of things that happened in previous weeks), she really does well in these performances.  Not to mention she really has a great voice.  Just wish I liked HER more…

The B3 was very appropriate.  What’s interesting to me is how UNIMPRESSED Ryan Murphy is with Cameron…yet Robert & Zach are always fighting for Cameron.  I guess Cameron really doesn’t make a good first (or second) impression.  Alex AND Matheus need to both go, so I would’ve been fine with either one of them leaving this week. What surprised me was when Damien STOOD UP for Matheus in front of Ryan, basically bringing up the fact that Alex was picking on Matheus, etc.  It irritated me tho that Matheus acted like the victim later with Alex tho…when he broke down and was bawling about the whole thing.  And Alex needs to step OFF his high horse.  Seriously.

Don’t know what made Ryan decide to get rid of Matheus…maybe it was the fact that this is like his…3rd time in the B3?  Not to mention he had a hard time with being flexible in his performance/taking direction.  I guess it was just time.  Alex LUCKED OUT this week…but he needs to go soon as well.  Can’t have a diva who thinks he’s so entitled win this competition.

Next week…Prepare to get SLUSHIED! :)
