(OTHER) LADIES’ FASHION: Emmy Awards 2011 + *POLL*

Here are just some of my other favorite ladies’ fashion from tonight’s Emmy Awards:

Julie Bowen ("Modern Family")

  • Julie’s so skinny that she can pretty much wear anything, but this dress really suited her.

Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family")

  • Sofia was in the “popular color” group this year…and I love that sweeping across the front!  Fit her so well too!  So pretty!

Cobie Smulders ("How I Met Your Mother")

  • The main thing I loved about this dress was the color!  When in the sea of red, this blue was a breath of fresh air!

Zooey Deschanel ("New Girl")

  • I thought Zooey’s dress matched her so well!  The ribbon around her waist…it added JUST A SPLASH of contrast color!  Loved that!

Martha Plimpton ("Raising Hope")

  • We’re so used to seeing her look so “homey” on Raising Hope that it was so awesome to see Martha so GLAM!  Loved that wine color…she looks great!

Kate Winslet ("Mildred Pierce")

  •  Always the epitome of class, and even tho she was ALSO in the #1 color of the night…which couldn’t have almost been redundant somehow, once again Kate hits a homerun in this dress!  Love the style…so simple yet elegant!  Beautiful!

WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE?

NINA DOBREV: Emmy Awards 2011 Red Carpet

Besides Lea Michele and Kate Winslet (both who were also wearing red ;) ), my other favorite had to be The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev.  She looked GORGEOUS…the dress was beautiful…and I think she made a real impression on the red carpet this year (she’s not as well known since TVD is on a cable channel vs a major network)! :)

Nina & Ian didn’t walk the red carpet together, but I guess they found each other at some point to take some pictures together.  Nina was interviewed by E! where they asked her about their relationship…and she was pretty coy and never quite confirmed it.  But I’m guessing it IS TRUE. ;)

GLEE LADIES: Emmy Awards 2011 Red Carpet + *POLL*

And now for the ladies…

Jayma Mays

  • I like the top portion of her dress…the bottom not as much.  But the color is cute!

Jane Lynch

  • I like the color!

Amber Riley

  •  Once again, I like the color!  And her hair is cute!

Naya Rivera

  • Very classic with the black…and it fits her very well.  Don’t really love those black “panel” strips in the middle there tho…

Heather Morris

  • A bit feathery, but great color!  She’s come a long way with the glam-ness!

Jenna Ushkowitz

  • Not the biggest fan of this dress…a bit severe…

Dianna Agron

  • Other than the color, NOT a fan of this dress.  It looks like she’s wearing it backwards!  Her hair and makeup is cute tho.

Lea Michele

  • Red was THE COLOR this year on the red carpet, and Lea’s choice was great!  I thought she looked amazing in it!  The color was so bold, she fit the dress really well, and I LOVED the back.  Wouldn’t necessarily have picked those type of shoulders, but…it adds to the style of the dress.  Love that overall it’s pretty simple… and SO PRETTY!

GLEE GUYS: Emmy Awards 2011 Red Carpet + *POLL*

The Glee guys on the Emmy red carpet:

Chris Colfer

  •  Nothing really to say about Chris…pretty basic.

Mark Salling

  • Nice and classic!  Good job!  On another note, Mark’s mohawk is looking thicker & wider isn’t it? :)

Cory Monteith

  • Is it just me or does somebody’s tux look a little small?

Kevin McHale

  • Usually Kevin tries to do something a little daring/wears something a little funky…but this time he went classic!  Nice!

Darren Criss

GLEE: 2011 Emmy Nominations!

GLEE KIDS HOORAY!

Glee garnered a bunch (12 to be exact) of Emmy nominations this year, including:

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
“Glee,” Chris Colfer as Kurt Hummel

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
“Glee,” Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester

Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series
“Glee,” Kristin Chenoweth as April Rhodes
“Glee,” Dot-Marie Jones as Coach Beiste
“Glee,” Gwyneth Paltrow as Holly Holliday

Outstanding Comedy Series
“Glee”

Hmm…Lea Michele got the snub this year!  She didn’t have as much of a part in this second season, but I still think she should’ve gotten a nomination.  But that’s just me. :)

Congrats to all the nominees!  Will definitely be watching come September…

MELISSA MCCARTHY & JOEL MCHALE: Emmy Training Video

Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Mike & Molly) will be announcing the Emmy nominations with Joshua Jackson (Fringe) this week.  But in preparation for making the announcements, she enlisted Community‘s Joel McHale to help her train for the task. :)

Pretty funny stuff.

Oh, and if you haven’t seen Bridesmaids yet, you MUST…Melissa STEALS THE SHOW imo.  She was awesome.

Enjoy!

EMMY AWARDS 2010: Congrats!

Congrats to…

Jane Lynch for winning BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS, COMEDY!  Totally well-deserved!  What would Glee be without Sue Sylvester?!  And NO ONE would be able to play that role like Jane…she’s just AWESOME!  Her acceptance speech was very funny (of course) and humble.

Eric Stonestreet won for BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR, COMEDY!  How awesome is that?!  All of the men from MF (besides Ed O’Neill) were nominated…and it was really hard to say which of the 3 should get it.  But Eric really is SO GREAT as Cam.  He’s SUCH a character.  And Eric’s acceptance speech was so sweet and touching.  Congrats to him!  SIDENOTE:  There was a shot of Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell) while Eric was giving his speech…and he was totally crying.  So sweet! :)

The Good Wife‘s Archie Panjabi won for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS, DRAMA!  Wow!  That was totally unexpected!  I’ve mentioned before about how her character, Kalinda, MAKES that show for me, and I was ecstatic to see that she got nominated for that role…but to win an Emmy!  So well-deserved, and such great publicity for the show, which is still so new!  If you haven’t checked out The Good Wife, I highly recommend it…if anything, watch it for Archie.  She’s GREAT.

And…

MODERN FAMILY winning for BEST COMEDY SERIES!  Woohoo!  ALMOST a bit of an upset, considering Glee had 19 nominations, including this one…so WOW!  I really wish those two shows weren’t in the same category…’cause then one HAS to lose. :(   But I’ve always felt Modern Family gets a bit overlooked because of just HOW MUCH exposure/attention Glee gets.  So it’s nice they’re getting recognized here.  It’s SUCH a great show…

VIDEO: Jimmy Fallon + Special Guests – Born To Run (Emmy Awards Opening Number)

Jimmy Fallon did probably one of the BEST opening numbers for an Emmy Awards show.  Why?  Because it was a MUSICAL number AND it included a NUMBER of special guests, including Glee‘s Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch…Tina Fey…Kate Gosselin (yes, you read that right), Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Betty White, Jorge Garcia (LOST), & Joel McHale (Community).  Oh, and AI‘s Randy Jackson too!

A bit reminiscient of the 6-Bee skits Jimmy does on his late night show…

HILARIOUS…and they all get to sing…and dance.  Pretty awesome stuff! Jimmy is great!

A MUST-WATCH!

*NOTE:  Don’t know why, but Lea Michele was in the pre-taped parts, but not in the live on stage stuff…weird.

EMMY STYLE WATCH: Everyone Else + *POLL*

Here’s some other notable celebs and their outfits:

Kelly Osbourne

  • Man, I thought Kelly looked great!  Boy did she lose A LOT of weight!  And the black, of course, is very slimming…

Kate Gosselin

  • First Dancing with the Stars, now the Emmy Awards. I actually really liked Kate’s outfit.  Just like Kelly, very slimming.  Her hair was very appropriate for an awards show.

Julie Benz

  • Talk about gutsy!  Julie Benz (she was on last season’s Desperate Housewives and is starring in the new show No Ordinary Family) wearing THAT dress…that color and how SLEEK it is!  Oh boy…talk about having to wear seamless EVERYTHING!  But she really looks great in it!  You gotta have a great body for a dress like that!

Nina Dobrev

  • I just watched my first episode of The Vampire Diaries the other night.  Nina Dobrev plays the female lead…she’s a very pretty girl.  Anyway, her Emmy dress I thought was quite stunning, even if it’s got a “lot going on.”  That gold/nude color was really pretty, and she’s another skinny one…so everything looks great on her.

Connie Britton

  • The thing I most liked about Friday Night Lights‘ Connie Britton’s dress is how SIMPLE yet elegant it was.  Probably the most “daring” thing about it was the color.  I thought she looked great.

Sofia Vergara

  • I don’t know if I’m the biggest fan of Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara’s dress.  But she does look great in it.  She really knows how to WEAR a dress.

Julie Bowen

  • I think I’ve mentioned before how much of a fan I am of Modern Family’s Julie Bowen.  I’m NOT much of a fan of this dress however.  Kind of a weird ruffling thing going on in the front.  But once again, the “color of the night” – midnight blue (altho it looks almost black here).

Who was YOUR favorite?

*UPDATED* STYLE WATCH: Glee @ Emmy Awards 8/29/10 + *POLL*

I’m so excited to watch the Emmy Awards tonight…why?!  Because Glee is nominated for 19 awards tonight!  Here’s some of the cast arriving on the red carpet:

Matthew Morrison

  • Not too much to say about Matthew…very classic and clean!  For a guy, simple and neat is always good!  Can’t go wrong with that!

Lea Michele

  • I love her hair…and the top portion of the dress.  The bottom’s a BIT ruffly, but at least it’s nice and tight. ;)   The color is nice…Lea’s great at wearing a different color at every event.  Based on the other dresses I’ve seen, navy blue is like the color of the night!
  • She still looks REALLY skinny and tiny!  Nice job Lea!  On your birthday no less! :)

Cory Monteith

  • So funny how at the Teen Choice Awards, Cory wore a suit and it seemed OVERdressed…but for the Emmy Awards he ONLY wore a suit (and not a tux).  He’s not totally UNDERdressed, but this would’ve been a good opportunity for him to actually GET to dress up.  Just like Matthew, nice & clean tho. He’s so tall so he always looks good in suits.

Dianna Agron

  • So nice to see Dianna at this event!  We missed her at the last couple of events!  She looks great!  Very classic…almost old fashioned.  LOVE her makeup.  No necklace is perfect with that style of dress…less is more! :)

Jane Lynch

  • Jane always wears the same designer to these things, so the dresses are all very similar.  This color looks pretty good on Jane, and the one-shoulder is nice.  I also like the brooch on the shoulder.  Nice touch.

Mark Salling

  • Suit – GOOD.  Fabric – QUESTIONABLE. What IS that?!  Looks almost like leather…?  Hmm…

Amber Riley

  • Wow Amber…that’s a lot of…WHITE. :)

Jessalyn Gilsig

  • I’m a fan of Jessalyn’s style.  I tend to like what she wears/how she dresses.  This is no exception.  I like the red color, the style looks good on her body (altho she’s skinny where everything pretty much looks good).

Chris Colfer

  • Aww, I love the treble clef on his lapel!  So cute!

Naya Rivera

  • OK Naya…WAY too much going on here.  The dress’ color is kind of a “breath of fresh air” in a way, which is nice…but all those ruffles and folds at the bottom.  Then that HAIR!  Whoa.

Jayma Mays

  • See what I mean by “color of the night.”  That navy/midnight blue was REALLY popular.  As usual, Jayma is so skinny she could wear anything.  The dress really looks good on her.  Her hair’s kinda different.  Very flowy.

Jenna Ushkowitz

  • Red is a good color on Jenna.  Don’t know if I like those shoes with that dress tho…

And as usual, can’t pass up a chance for a poll! ;)

VIDEO: Emmy Roundtable Discussion

Every award season, they usually hold an “Emmy Roundtable” discussion, where a bunch of Emmy nominees get together and answer questions and have discussions.  This season it was an interesting group of actors, including couple of guys from Mad Men Mindy Kaling (The Office), Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), Jeff Probst (Survivor), Rose Byrne (Damages) and Lea Michele (Glee).

This isn’t the whole discussion, but it includes parts with Lea (who’s actually pretty quiet and shy in this group), where she discusses how she got the role of Rachel, and the more interesting part was when they were asked if all their characters they play competed in Survivor…who would win? Jeff Probst feels that Rachel Berry would win! :)

It’s just neat to see all these actors from different shows all together like this…Enjoy!

VIDEO: Glee Emmy Nom Roundup

Here’s a video TV Guide did to sum up the Glee cast’s Emmy nominations/reactions, which air this Sunday night 8/29 (Lea Michele’s birthday!) on NBC:

I loved Chris Colfer’s comment – “I’m still on Cloud 19!” (as in 19 Emmy nominations the show received ;) )

GLEE Emmy News: NPH!

The official Emmy Awards show is next Sunday, but over the weekend the Creative Arts portion of the awards were held (basically all the awards they aren’t able to give live on the TV broadcast), and…

Congratulations to Neil Patrick Harris!

Neil won an Emmy for his guest appearance as Bryan Ryan on Glee this past season. The 2nd award he’s holding above he won for his hosting duties on The Tony Awards.

Glee 1.19 "Dream On"

Personally, I didn’t think his role was anything THAT special.  He’s SO MUCH better on How I Met Your Mother.  Probably his name alone won him the award.  I think Kristin Chenoweth deserved it more.  Just sayin. :)

But even if I don’t agree with the award, the win just brings more attention to Glee, so that’s a good thing. ;)

EMMY AWARDS: Jimmy Fallon and…Kate Gosselin?

Jimmy Fallon is going to be the host of the year’s Emmy Awards, to be held later this month.

The rumor right now is that Kate Gosselin…yes, you read right…Kate Gosselin is being tapped to open the awards show with Jimmy.

Supposedly, Kate will partake in a humorous sketch where she interacts with some of TV’s biggest stars.

That should be QUITE interesting.  If it actually happens.  Guess we’ll have to wait until August 29 to find out…

VIDEO: Sofia Vergara – Mariska Hargitay?

Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara (along with Community‘s Joel McHale) announced the Primetime Emmy Awards this week.  We all know that English ISN’T Sofia’s first language, so it was interesting to see Sofia have to pronounce a lot of these names…

When announcing the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category, Sofia had to pronounce “Mariska Hargitay.”  Now, even for us “English as a FIRST language” people, Mariska Hargitay is a TOUGH ONE.  I was QUITE interested to see how Sofia tackled that one…

HILARIOUS…Check it out (JUMP TO 4:40 of the video):
