AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS: Performances 11/20/11

Here are just some of the performances from tonight’s award show:

KELLY CLARKSON:

• What a cool version of Kelly’s song!  It’s like a swing/big band version!  Kelly’s been dressing more “girly” these days, which is nice!

JENNIFER LOPEZ:

JLo always tends to do these big numbers.  Very showy.  But I gotta say, it was quite entertaining.  I really enjoyed it.  She looked pretty good too.

KATY PERRY:

• Nice job Katy!  Stripped down version of her new song The One That Got Away.  She really showed off that she doesn’t need a lot of bells & whistles to sing.  She sounded quite good!

MAROON5 & CHRISTINA AGUILERA:

• Such a catchy song by the two The Voice judges!  Umm…and we have to discuss Xtina.  She’s still looking a bit big…but she definitely looks better than when she was on The Voice.  And that dress style helped to flatten her down a bit.

DAUGHTRY:

• Umm…WTH was that?!  That was NOT good.  What was wrong with Chris’ voice?!  For one thing, it sounded like an octave HIGHER than normal.  Plus it was out of tune…in a lot of places.  It was hard on my ears…and as the song progressed, I felt like it got worse.  Ugh.

JENNIFER LOPEZ: Hidden Camera Prank (Ellen)

Jennifer Lopez was the next celebrity to join celebs like Dennis Quaid & Kristin Chenoweth to participate in one of Ellen DeGeneres’ hidden pranks.Jennifer pretended to be interviewing for an assistant, and had two different potentials.

ennifer did a great job actually. You could tell she felt bad to have to do this to them. Then after she told them it was prank, the two people actually didn’t look too happy, especially the guy…maybe because they weren’t sure if she was serious or not.

AMERICAN IDOL 5/5/11: Top 5 Results

Just a few thoughts about the results show tonight:

• How many weeks have these people been doing group numbers again?!  My god…they are TERRIBLE when they sing together.  Can you say HARMONIES?!  They sure don’t know how to sing harmonies AT ALL.  REALLY BAD.  I think this is the worst season for group performances.

• SHUT UP James…stop mouthing everything Ryan is saying.  Do you HAVE TO bring attention to yourself ALL THE TIME?!  This show is NOT all about YOU.  Ugh.

• I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of JLo’s music, but…her performance tonight of her single On The Floor was good!  She did a great job!  She sure knows how to put on a show!  For her to sing LIVE as well (she pretty much has to, considering she’s JUDGING these contestants who have to sing live every week), that was pretty good considering how much she was moving around…

BOTTOM 2:

• Wow, so I guess they really did tell us who the Bottom 2 are this week.  POOR LAUREN!  She was SO SAD when she found out that she was in the B2.  That’s one of the reasons I love Lauren…she really wears her heart on her sleeve.  It was cute how the audience kept trying to support her, screaming out “We love you Lauren” numerous times…

BOOTED:

• It’s about time.  Jacob did NOT do himself any favors last night with his song selections.  He really is talented, but as the weeks went on, he didn’t seem to be improving…in many ways he even was starting to get worse for some reason.  Maybe the pressure was mounting.  In any case, I think that was TOTALLY the right decision this week.
• I still really feel for Lauren.  When Jacob was singing his swan song, they showed the remaining contestants and you could just TELL that all Lauren was thinking about was the fact that she was thisclose to being eliminated.  The other 3 didn’t have to worry since they were all safe…she was the ONLY ONE who was in danger.  I hope this gives her the confidence to really come out with a vengeance next week!
• I do think Lauren being in the B2 can only help her.  Up until now Lauren had NEVER been in the bottom/in danger, so with what happened tonight, fans know she isn’t as safe as we all thought…so they will vote LIKE CRAZY next week to ensure her Top 3 status!  ESPECIALLY considering how much MOMENTUM Haley seems to have right now…

AMERICAN IDOL: New Judges Announced

Well…all the rumors circulating were true.  We have our new judging panel for American Idol:

To be honest, I’m not TOO enthused about this panel…

JENNIFER LOPEZ:  I’m actually OK with Jennifer Lopez. I remember when she was a mentor during Jordin’s season…she was one of my favorite mentors.  She actually gave HELP to the kids, and she loved the show so she really KNEW all about the contestants.  She actually CARED.

STEVEN TYLER:  EH.  Not too enthused about him.  I’m pretty sure he’ll be CRITICAL, but will he be CONSTRUCTIVE?

We will have to see…

And on another note…yet ANOTHER celebrity is coming to the Mother set!

Jennifer Lopez has been cast to make a guest appearance in March!  Jennifer will play Anita Appleby, a no-nonsense author of self-help books that teach women how to train men into relationship machines through the power of denial. When Robin tells Anita how Barney acts toward women, she makes it her mission to “break” him.

First Carrie, now JLo…March sure is a busy month for HIMYM!

Major Glee Spoilers!

Entertainment Weekly was able to get some MAJOR spoilers about the show from creator Ryan Murphy:

• What I’ve been waiting for! – Rachel & Puck are getting together AGAIN!  According to Ryan, “I was really surprised [viewers responded so favorably to that pairing],” he says. “I thought people would find her to be far too irritating for him. But by the time [we heard that feedback], we had already shot the first 13 [episodes]. But because I read that — in your column, actually, so you get the blame — I was like, ‘I’m going to get them together in some way.’ So we just finished [writing] a special episode where they are together, and they have two numbers together. It’s episode 4, ‘Bad Reputation.’” YES!  CANNOT WAIT!
• They are REALLY hyping up that Modonna-themed episode!  10 musical numbers!  Seriously?!  That’s huge!
• Info on 2 of the 3 NEW cast members they are having the open casting call for: “We just announced we’re doing a nationwide search for the season 2 cast, and [a boyfriend for Kurt is] one of the three roles that we’re adding. And we’re going to make them a power couple. We’re not going to do the whole hiding in the shadows thing. We’re going to make them popular, and out and proud and glamorous. Like prom king and king. We’re doing the opposite of what’s been done.” But wait, there’s more: “We’re also casting sort of a Eve Harrington [from All About Eve] to kind of steal Rachel’s thunder a little. So those are two of the three.” How fun!  At least now we know kind of what they’re looking for…those are both TOUGH roles to fill!
• More on upcoming guest stars – “Jennifer Lopez wants to do the show, so I’m going to meet with her. In the past couple of months, a lot of people are coming out saying they love the show and would I meet with them and write something. But I don’t want to stunt-cast too much, because I think the [musical] numbers are already so extravagant. If I do Jennifer, I would want her to be, like, a lunch lady. And [exec producer] Brad Falchuk is obsessed with having Bruce Springsteen on the show, so I’m sure we’ll go after him at some point.” Jennifer Lopez as a lunch lady?!  That would be AWESOME!
  

Those are actually REALLY TELLING spoilers/scoop!  Awesome!  Talk about adding to the anticipation of the show returning!  COME ON!  Move up that return date!
