KATE PLUS 8: Cancelled!

It’s official…TLC has decided not to renew Kate Plus 8 for another season.

Once the news broke, Kate took to Twitter and released this statement:

@Kateplusmy8 “We’ve had a great run! Six years of whirlwind funfilled adventures thanks to TLC and our many many supportive &diehard fans!  While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning!), we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future! As is very typical for me, I am choosing to see the positive in this situation and  I am excited2consider many more invigorating opportunities that may come my way!I poured my entire self in2 last 6 yrs of ‘Kate+8′ & I can’t wait2have the chance2challenge myself again w future endeavors!  In the meanX,I hope 2have more time4motivational speaking,book writing &other fun work opportunities that come my way……And maybe even some dating??!!  We wish our fans well. And remember, this is not ‘goodbye’.I prefer to say  ‘See you around!’ Xoxo”  “Shows will air thru sept 12… Stay tuned and we can enjoy the last eps together..”

It’s actually kind of funny how this announcement came out today.  I spent a good portion of the weekend catching up on a BUNCH of episodes of Kate Plus 8 that I had missed!

Altho the show isn’t quite the same anymore, I know I will still miss it.  I’m really going to miss seeing those 8 kids on a regular basis.  I really did fall in love with them!

FIRST LOOK: The Gosselins on Sarah Palin’s Alaska

Sarah Palin’s reality show, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” is about 3 episodes into its season, and I actually have been tuning in. I actually think it’s a pretty interesting show. You really get to see a LOT of Alaska (which I know nothing about)…and it really is a BEAUTIFUL place. I mainly am watching to see the Palins in their “real life” and how their relationships are with each other. They’re pretty “normal” and they really do actual ALASKA things (hunting, fishing, etc).

Anyway, in this week’s episode Kate Gosselin and her kids give the Palin’s a visit. Knowing how much Kate is NOT an outdoorsy person, I’m thinking this episode will be pretty entertaining…

COVER GIRL: Kate Gosselin on People

People magazine must have some kind of agreement with Kate or something…they are her “exclusive” magazine for stories and interviews.

Kate will be the cover girl for the upcoming issue, which hits stands this Friday:

Kate’s showing off her toned body and revealing what she did to get it.  I do have to say she looks really good.  YES, her belly button is still WAY TOO HIGH…but we’ll blame that on the plastic surgery for her tummy tuck.  Other than that, her arms look really toned.  She must really be working hard for it.

“This is the most fit I’ve ever been”—mostly due to running (not plastic surgery) and without the help of a personal trainer.

Kate also spills diet secrets, like she’s “majorly addicted to almonds” and snacks on “whole-grain kamut cakes…smeared with a little peanut butter.

VIDEO: Jimmy Fallon + Special Guests – Born To Run (Emmy Awards Opening Number)

Jimmy Fallon did probably one of the BEST opening numbers for an Emmy Awards show.  Why?  Because it was a MUSICAL number AND it included a NUMBER of special guests, including Glee‘s Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch…Tina Fey…Kate Gosselin (yes, you read that right), Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Betty White, Jorge Garcia (LOST), & Joel McHale (Community).  Oh, and AI‘s Randy Jackson too!

A bit reminiscient of the 6-Bee skits Jimmy does on his late night show…

HILARIOUS…and they all get to sing…and dance.  Pretty awesome stuff! Jimmy is great!

A MUST-WATCH!

*NOTE:  Don’t know why, but Lea Michele was in the pre-taped parts, but not in the live on stage stuff…weird.

• Man, I thought Kelly looked great!  Boy did she lose A LOT of weight!  And the black, of course, is very slimming…

Kate Gosselin

• First Dancing with the Stars, now the Emmy Awards. I actually really liked Kate’s outfit.  Just like Kelly, very slimming.  Her hair was very appropriate for an awards show.

Julie Benz

• Talk about gutsy!  Julie Benz (she was on last season’s Desperate Housewives and is starring in the new show No Ordinary Family) wearing THAT dress…that color and how SLEEK it is!  Oh boy…talk about having to wear seamless EVERYTHING!  But she really looks great in it!  You gotta have a great body for a dress like that!

Nina Dobrev

• I just watched my first episode of The Vampire Diaries the other night.  Nina Dobrev plays the female lead…she’s a very pretty girl.  Anyway, her Emmy dress I thought was quite stunning, even if it’s got a “lot going on.”  That gold/nude color was really pretty, and she’s another skinny one…so everything looks great on her.

Connie Britton

• The thing I most liked about Friday Night Lights‘ Connie Britton’s dress is how SIMPLE yet elegant it was.  Probably the most “daring” thing about it was the color.  I thought she looked great.

Sofia Vergara

• I don’t know if I’m the biggest fan of Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara’s dress.  But she does look great in it.  She really knows how to WEAR a dress.

Julie Bowen

• I think I’ve mentioned before how much of a fan I am of Modern Family’s Julie Bowen.  I’m NOT much of a fan of this dress however.  Kind of a weird ruffling thing going on in the front.  But once again, the “color of the night” – midnight blue (altho it looks almost black here).

EMMY AWARDS: Jimmy Fallon and…Kate Gosselin?

Jimmy Fallon is going to be the host of the year’s Emmy Awards, to be held later this month.

The rumor right now is that Kate Gosselin…yes, you read right…Kate Gosselin is being tapped to open the awards show with Jimmy.

Supposedly, Kate will partake in a humorous sketch where she interacts with some of TV’s biggest stars.

That should be QUITE interesting.  If it actually happens.  Guess we’ll have to wait until August 29 to find out…

TV NEWS: Kate Gosselin and…Sarah Palin?!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Kate (plus her eight) will make an appearance on Sarah Palin’s upcoming talk show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which is set to debut November 14th (I believe it will be on Oprah’s new OWN station).

According to the article, The Gosselins will visit the Palins in Alaska, and, apparently, camping will be involved.

Kate & Sarah.  Wow.  That should be QUITE an interesting show.  Wonder how that even CAME ABOUT?!  If anything, I’m sure Kate is doing it to give her kids the opportunity to visit Alaska…I mean, how many people actually GO to Alaska JUST TO GO?

As usual, I will DEFINITELY be tuning in to that one when it comes on…   I know, I’m such a sucker for “good TV.”

The must really like her on that show…she keeps getting asked back.  IMO, Kate matches being on that show…all those ladies and all…

Just FYI, in case you want to tune in…I know I will be…Kate Plus 8 is having a 2-hour premiere this Sunday!  This is basically going to be like Jon & Kate Plus 8 withOUT Jon.  Obviously they’re going to focus on Kate as a single mom now, dealing with raising her twins & sextuplets.

I’m mainly gonna tune in because we get to see the Gosselin kids again!  I’ve missed them!  Here’s  short video preview:

Jon Trying to Make Peace…NOW?

According to reports today, Jon Gosselin has let go his lawyer whose been recently been trying to help him get primary custody of his kids from Kate.

Jon tweeted today:  “Mr. Anthony List Sr., Esq. is not my representing attorney; I terminated him on April 15, 2010.  He has no legal right to speak to the press or anyone on my behalf.”

“Kate, her attorneys and I are moving forward to work out things privately and amicably.”

Umm…doesn’t this seem a BIT convenient considering Jon’s tweeting this RIGHT AFTER Kate gets booted from Dancing with the Stars…now that she’s not “hogging” all the limelight anymore.  Hmm…

“I never wanted primary custody, [List] filed for that,” he tells TMZ. “I only wanted a more flexible custody schedule so I could be with my kids.”

All these statements…too conveniently released NOW.  Come on Jon…

DANCING WITH THE STARS: Top 8 Results

Well, it FINALLY happened…and I’m sure a LOT of people are letting out a sigh of relief…

Kate Gosselin was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars..

We ALL knew that it was only a matter of time before she left.  I know a lot of people wanted her gone LONG before, but I for one am glad she hung around long enough where we had ONE week where she actually looked like she was having fun, and actually KINDA DANCED around the floor.  From the get-go she was the TOTAL UNDERDOG, having NO performance experience WHATSOEVER, so for her, I’m sure it was a triumph just to have lasted as long as she did.  Gotta give it to her…she outlasted 3 other contestants.

I was glad they ended up just talking with Kate rather than showing her goodbye video.  She seemed really sad to be leaving…probably because she feels like she failed.  Funny how she admitted just HOW scared she really was.  That added A LOT to why she came across so cold.  She had to hide the nerves.  You could tell that her answers were really genuine, and I’m glad she got to show everyone that vulnerable side to her.  It was quite touching, imo.  All the other remaining contestants…the judges and the hosts as well…seemed to really feel for her and they genuinely seemed sad to see her go as well.  It was a nice moment for her.

Now she can go back to doing what she does best…being a mom to those adorable 8 kids…

Yesterday I posted about how Kate Gosselin will be back on TLC in 2 different shows airing this summer – Twist of Kate and Kate Plus 8.

Kate spoke about her upcoming TLC show, Twist of Kate, at the Discovery Communications’ NYC Upfront Thursday.

The show, which debuts this summer, will follow the single mother, 35, as she raises her eight children, as well as profile other women who are also in their own challenging situations.

“Every day I hear from women across the country who have incredible stories but are overwhelmed with their lives, asking me for advice on everything from potty training to organization,” the current Dancing With the Stars disaster explained. “None have asked for dancing advice, however. Just thought I’d add that.”

“So on my new show Twist of Kate, I’m going to spend a few days in their lives experiencing their challenges firsthand and lending a helping hand and maybe even some time off,” she went on.

As for her own kids, Gosselin said she’s “thrilled” to announce they’ll be returning to TV. For some specials this year, she said they’ll be “taking some fun trips and having some great adventures. They’re very excited.”
